If they aren't going to do a new studio record... Why not do something "semi" fresh? Strip down the arrangements and do an Unplugged-style concert where everything is mostly acoustic. Lindsey and Stevie can throw in 3-4 new songs into the mix. Market the concert on DVD and CD and then go on tour. That at least wouldn't seem so insincere.

Us fans would LOVE this idea but then Mick and John wouldn't be of much use.

It doesn't matter to me if they package an EP with a Greatest Hits compilation. If that's what they think will sell it. I bought both versions of SYW for the extra tracks and I would pay the same price for an stand alone EP anyway. I'm excited to hear any new stuff.

And, still hold out hope for some significant BN release / mini tour, etc.

Sadly, most of us fans would buy another greatest hits album even if it contained nothing new or different, just to show them our support.

I don't know that I would, but I also said at first I would not get sucked into starting another collection & I ended up buying everything.

I'd love to see a CD come out just with a bunch of demos. Imagine getting a CD with some of that great material - like Forest of the Black Roses, which is great as it is.

Clearly you haven't seen Nirvana, Bob Dylan's, or Eric Clapton's "Unplugged" concerts then...

That'd be interesting, but only about a dozen people would buy a copy. All of whom are right here on this board. They've already done something like this with their White Album, Rumours, and Tusk remasters, anyway.

Regarding the whole Unplugged idea, they've already done that, too: The Dance. God knows, I can't stomach another repackaging of Rumours... give us some new material. I don't care if it's a new album or an EP. Something, anything, that's a stand alone effort.

Eh. I wouldn't call The Dance truly "unplugged"... Lindsey playing a banjo on one song? No, a truly unplugged, acoustic set would be cool.

I would love to hear a good studio recording of All the Beautiful Worlds, Dancing In the Shadows or Don't Treat Me Like a Stranger.

I've supported BN the last 2 years already- bought their new albums, bought tickets to see them both.. I don't feel like buying a greatest hits CD for tracks they play daily on the radio!!

I will be majorly disappointed if they have to package new material with a hits CD too.. tells me they don't take new material seriously. Even an EP would be a disappointment on some levels, because they are always capable of releasing double albums.. 8 or 9 tracks would seem like so little.

It would be different if LB/SN were at the end of their careers, but they both just released excellent, successful solo albums in 2011- why would they settle for anything as this juncture??

Buckingham Nicks stuff should happen in 2013, too. Come on, it's the 40th anniversary and they can be in the same room any more..

Stones are doing something that sounds extremely similar - releasing Greatest Hits with a couple of new songs in November, with first 4 dates of the tour recently announced, and more to come.

so i guess it's a thing du jour to do
