Thank you for, at least, being compassionate. I worry about her reading people's comments on this site and how she must feel when she reads all the negative slurs. Can you people just be content seeing her live her life freely and not make judgements about her every single nuance, physical or otherwise? I personally am just so greatful she is still alive and able to make music. Maybe, I'm being overly dramatic here but have some heart and just think how she might be feeling. After all she's still greiving the passing of her mother and that certainly ages a person.
Sara Fleetwood addressed this same feeling about peoples comments about Stevie and she was not happy in the least bit and I don't blame her. I just hope she isn't reading now!

I don't think you're being sensitive, and I agree.

While I agree it might not be fun for the object of these conversations to read them herself, this *is* a site for fans to talk about whatever fans want to talk about. I don't think anyone on here is bashing Stevie, just yapping. It's kinda like the old saying, "if you could ever hear what your Friends are saying when you're not in the room, you'd freak"

The people on this board are folks who adore this woman, have followed her career for years, have spent uber bucks on her cds, dvds, concert tickets, travel to get to her concerts, etc etc And they are people who would truly have her back when it counts the most.

But I think we can also be honest in our discussions too ("drop-dead honest" lol). Otherwise, it becomes sycophantic. I think the point we're making (at least I am) in pointing some of this stuff out, is that she is indeed human.....and it's good to be reminded of that from time to time. She's not some eternally youthful robot who can leap around in platform boots for us forever on command. She's human... and because it's fairly rare, it's kinda compelling when we get to see the every-day human side of Stevie and not just the glossy airbrushed image.

I have. It's almost 10 years than I suffer from it and it worsened after 2 wrong surgeries to both my knees. So what you said it's true: when it's cold (but also when it's too hot) the pain get worse. Specially in the lower back (sciatica since I was 12 yo due to a trauma after a fall that moved my vertebrae), knees, shoulders.
Anyway, poor Stevie must have gone through hell with the pains due to her arthritis!

I totally agree with you, BrownEyedGirl. I hate negative comments about this or that artist, specially if addressed to the physical appearance. Stevie is 64 years old and still looks GORGEOUS, not so many women are so lucky to look like her, so healthy and modern. Then, another important thing is that she still sings for all of us and her voice and charisma are the same of when she was 29 years old. When you look at her you can still see this beautiful, funny and sensitive girl she was back in 1974, when she joined FM. The emotions she still gives to her fans are ageless, and so is her wonderful music.

I don't see why she would, frankly.

And if her "people" read it, I would think it would be more their job to pass along the gist of the comments, i.e., "there's a lot of talk about your red cape and how much people love it" "there's quite a lot of buzz about Fleetwood Mac not doing just another greatest hits tour" or whatever. Individual posts really don't even matter that much in the bigger scheme of things because one person's opinion is just that, one person's view, but if there is a trend that emerges, that's what tells you something.

Don't mean to put too fine a point on it; it may be because as a professional researcher one of the things I do is actually comb through things like social media to identify emerging trends to feed new design opportunities and we kill ourselves to get really honest feedback from product users and the like.....so in my work I tend to think of this kind of stuff as gold

Right and we do get the sense that consensus talk gets passed on to them. I mean, I remember we used to do polls on FM Legacy and I Know I'm Not Wrong won one of the polls and then it showed up in the setlist.

Obviously, SOTM hasn't shown up, but Mick gave an interview and it seemed like he knew very well that fans talk about that song all of the time. So, they have a general idea of what is said. It would not be productive to run back and tell Stevie fans are putting down her physical appearance. On the other hand, I think they did tell Stevie we were stealing her music, so who knows what they say.

Totally agree, Michelle with everything but respectfully disagree that fans (at least in this thread) are "putting down her appearance". I think some comments were made that it appears she has arthritis or something going on with her hands based on her appearance out in a public setting that got photographed. I don't want to make a big deal out of this coz I don't think it is a big deal. Oh yeah, and I for one didn't like her boots...

Well, I was asking about the lines around her mouth. But they aren't there in concert and I don't want her to look offstage the way she looks in concert either. I love to get a glimpse of a fresh face or those big hair rollers we've seen some time. I relish the glimpse behind the image, like the photos we got when they were rehearsing early in the morning for The Today Show.

I'm not a big fan of her, so I don't know about her health or other problems, or if she has arthritis or not, so EXCUSE ME but I just commented what other users wrote before me, talking about it. If she has it or not, of course it's only her business and there's nothing wrong with her hands. Having had my grandma with arthritis, I remember that she had this bone shape too... but who says that maybe it's not simply the natural shape of her hands?
Anyway, it's not offensive talking about arthritis as it's not offensive talking about menopause and all the problems it brings, because it's a natural course of life for every woman. In an interview, Stevie talked openly about her menopause and all the problems resulting from it, so were's the mystery?
When people talk to their grandmothers, do they ever say "Oh Grandma, you're full of wrinkles in your face and your hands are limp"?. I don't think so, because we all know that it's something natural, when you begin to age. Just because a person is famous we think she/he must always look perfect, but it doesn't mean they should elbalm themselves just to make fans happy. Loving a celebrity means also respecting her/him.
For example, I love Chris more than my life even now that she's 69 years old and to me she still gorgeous; I'm happy she looks like a lady of her age and not like a little girl with her skin all stretched
It's a polite way not to point out other's wrinkles or skin spots, so comments about the fact that Stevie looks old and has wrinkles, in my opinion are very disrespectful.

And people can make observations, which I think is only natural, without being disrespectful or insulting.

I think the thread starter was just pointing out what we have discussed on here for years - at times the swelling in her hands is painfully obvious.

And, I still respectfully say, I believe she has arthritis. I'm not sure why the thought is surprising.

I agree with others, I do not think anyone is bashing her, just commenting.
The Stevie of Death thread is far more disturbing (but funny) than this thread.

Also the thread discussing money and personal wealth is very off putting as well.

Stevie shouldn't read this board. Most celebrities avoid fan sites, a general rule for celebs. I know a few celebs who have read fan sites/youtube comments....they got over it real quick and stopped.

I agree with both of you on this!
Some celebrity may be too much sensitive and reading hate comments or teasing could be devastating and cause depression and pain. And it's absolutely understandable.

If my Grandma was a public figure in show business I might tell her she had wrinkles, just in case she wanted to do something about them. Show business grandchildren should not remain quiet. Kenny Rogers' grandchildren should be imprisoned for not speaking up and telling him just how bad things are.
