OH I got one ! It's back now

LOVING Take 3 of ''I Can't Wait''. I can see why they used the first ever take for the song..but hearing it sung differently in parts is interesting.

What was Stevie and Co thinking when they put You Like Me into the vault/recording by another artist. With some of these demos/outtakes, Rock a Little could have been a great album. I remember reading it as being one of her most arresting songs in years. No kidding! Great, friggin' song!

Whew! Glad it's back up! SEVERAL times when I was uploading the last few weeks, Mediafire would crap out on me! Boo!!!

Everyone is very, very welcome, and I am very thankful to all of the people who have shared with me over the years as a Stevie Fan!!! ALL our Group cared about was making sure these Tapes were NOT hoarded and were made available to the entire Stevie Community.

I'm hoping this also inspires others to share as well. We ALL benefit, right?

Whoa!! This is a lot to take in...I started downloading last night & finished this morning - just beginning to digest some of these tracks. Always *amazing* to discover a new demo (Priest Of Nothing). Not enough words to express my thanks to you...Mike, and the "GROUP of Stevie Fans" that won this auction and shared Many blessings to you & also to JeffD8382 for enhancing some of these old 80's cassette transfers!!

Here are some exciting discoveries for me so far.

"You Like Me" 84' demo - Until now I only imagined what Stevie's version would sound like. So cool!! even though this one still sounds like a rough draft & a work in progress, But I "Dig it"
"Something Exquisite" - another great new take of one of my Top 20 RAL demos & outtakes. Especially love the "woo woo woo's" & Stevie's intriguing subdued & more controlled vocal throughout. I think this take is a sound upgrade from the other heavily circulated outtake, unless it's just Jeff's magic. Ooh la la...
"Running Through The Garden" Take 1 & 2 - Another one of my very favorite RAL outtakes
"Battle Of The Dragon" Takes 1-4 nuff said!
"Priest Of Nothing" or "Yes, He Can" (knowing Stevie, that or "The Legend" could also be her title LOL) - though a bit rambling, this song has some essence to it that possibly could've been refined. Still a very interesting song & vocal adding another dimensional insight about Stevie & Joe's 83"-84" on again off again era.
"Welcome To The Room, Sara" - always loved this demo. Had more potential in it, than the final version realized imo.
"Dial The Number" - never a complete fan or champion of this song, but it's fantastic to hear a final mix from early 89' (so close to OSOTM release date). Much better than the outtakes with the full presentation of backing vocals etc. It's easy to see why this song never made a record. It's a little woozy and feather light - complete with Kenny G sax fills for extra sleepiness - but still great fun for us fans to have & listen to unashamedly

Now onto listen to the Imperial Hotel & I Can't Wait takes. Glorious. Simply glorious!

"Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?"
"Listen To The Rain" (1991 TimeSpace version)

Hopefully, those tapes will also be shared with all of us, like our Group did!
Gahhh, All these "work tape" discoveries only make me painfully realize all the demos & outtakes that we have not heard! It makes you wonder if there is a market for Stevie to release some of these gems on an official bootleg collection release or just release Stevie's remastered & expanded 1st 3 solo cds - though I'm afraid, the more time that passes... the reality of which truly vanishes, esp with the tattered music industry & actual CD sales declining. Argggg...all the possibilities. It's also probably a lot of work to sort through all the massive amounts of material. Though I'm sure many fans would be obliged to sort through it for free

We can only hope whoever won the "motherload" work tapes changes their minds about sharing. The other half of the experiencing Stevie's demos & outtakes is sharing with other true fans who love these new discoveries & can enjoy, discuss and dissect interesting parts of Stevie's recording history for more insight & posterity, but never for personal profit.

Thank you thank you thank you. I, like so many others here, are totally indebted to you for putting all this time and work into these. I'm so happy right now.

I Can't Wait has always had a sense of mystery to me. The spoken word sample... I swear all this time I thought was "how will we feel twenty years from now looking back" but it's clearly "how will we feel ten years from now waking up" . And I was convinced it was a sample from something but it's obvious now that the first one (from the 45 mix) actually is Stevie and the main one from the bridge is one of the girls. And when Stevie said in the liner notes for TimeSpace that she sang it "only once" but the 12" had the alternate take of "well she dances around in a circle". I thought, hey, she didn't sing it only once. But now you can tell it was just replaced with the guitar solo. And I find it kind of fascinating that the little tinkly part seems to have been added later because it's not in any of the mixes here. And thank you so much for the rock dub mix. I've been looking for a good version of that for ages. I love the ending so much. Yay!

Christopher, those songs I listed, while some were in the Motherload, were ALSO individual tapes that the Seller auctioned off. And NONE of them went to the winner of the Motherload. They all went to different buyers.

So, even if the Motherload winner chooses not to share (and he has so chosen), there are still several tapes out there with the potentiality of being shared with all of us.

But let me remind us all what the Winner of the Motherload has all to himself:

ROCK A LITTLE:
This appears to be the work tapes that were used to produce "Rock A Little" released Nov. 1985
There is at least one work tape of every song on the "Rock A Little" album, plus:
One work tape of Talk To Me - says: "In My Living Room (chas)" ???
Plus 2 work tapes of "Tied Up"
One says: Jimmy, Come On Back - orig track / Tied Up (w/obj)
Two says: Tied Up - She Loves Him Still
Two tapes dated after the album release:
One: 2-4-86 tape of I Can't Wait
Two: 2-6-86 tape of Nightmare #6
Three (3) SPECIAL sealed tapes of "Rock A Little" -
Says: "LENT FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY"

TIMESPACE:
The finished MASTER of "TimeSpace" dated 6-4-91 released Sept. 1991
Photo #8 is the front and photo #9 is the back of this tape
Note that the songs are in the exact order of the released tape

PLUS:
A tape marked Demo's, (photo #10)
a tape marked "Battle of the Dragon's" (photo #11)
and a tape marked "Belladonna" (photo #12)

HISTORY:
These tapes were found in a cassette case marked Mark Paladino assumed to be in the photo
There is little doubt that these are the "REAL THING" - I am cleaning up the warehouse
of a seller that purchases storage lockers that are up for auction. I have been told that they
previously sold a lot of Stevie Nicks memorabilia - these must have been overlooked
they did not see the value in them - I have spent about 6 hours just researching these tapes.
The little yellow tag's on the #3 photo are mine. You get it all - including my notes.
If you would like to know more or see more photos - Please contact me.
I am very anxious to see this extraordinary collection of Stevie Nicks memorabilia
fall into the hands of someone that will really appreciate them.

"Stevie Nicks - Rising Fortunes"

Some tapes are "Bernie Grundman Mastering studio"

Every song on ROCK A LITTLE album, PLUS:
"Talk To Me"
"Jimmy, Come On Back" ~ 2
"Tied Up" ~ 2
"She Loves Him Still" ~ 2
"I Can't Wait"
"The Nightmare"
"Battle Of The Dragon"
"You Change Sides" ~ "Mabel Normand" ~ 2
"Strange Misgiving" ~ "Something Exquisite"
"Why Are We Doing This Again?" (is it "Long Way To Go"?)
"Not A Matter Of The Heart" ~ "Long Way To Go" or "Love Don't Fail Me Now"?
"Chanel, Chanel"
"Whole Lotta Trouble"
"Ooh My Love" - 1985
"Mirror, Mirror"

These were in the Motherload, all of it. Similar tapes were in different auctons, and ARE OUT THERE.

They'll surface. They always do...just takes time. I used to semi-be in a Stevie group that would collect and purchase these, but so few were on Ebay then. This was purchasing from people in LA & NY. Prolly all that I have from then is shared and available now, but I should go thru what I have...it's been years, and since my move, I have discovered that I am missing an entire cd case of boots =0( I have a ton of stuff on tape. Again, prolly old news, but I should send them to whatever awesome person is transferring them over.

Yes, you should! Send me a message!

Not "everything" gets out necessarily. Three years ago, 2 different tapes were sold on eBay for gigantic amounts:

"I Call You Missing" from Street Angel

"Silent Night" - 1987 Demo

Neither has EVER shown up or been shared in any kind of wide circulation.

But, yeah, open your Vaults!!!

Mike, you know it already, but you're a SUPERSTAR. You're a Priest of Something. Maybe Legend. Yeah, priest of legend, I like that.

Anyway, if you ever come over the border, I'm happy to take you out for a meal, show you some old fashioned Oklahoma Ledgie appreciation.

Thankyou Sir

- Spike
