He doesn't write, produce, architect or play a lead instrument. Lindsey holds the key to any future Mac project if it includes him and Stevie...

It doesn't have to be tied to a solo release for him to use that as a bargaining chip. If I was him and could negotiate a really sweet deal for myself that way, it's definitely the road I would take. Poker.
Trust me, at this stage of the game the major draw ~ and main bargaining tool! ~ for Fleetwood Mac is Stevie!! Lindsey (sadly!) is a distant second!

It would make everyone's lives much easier if they (Lindsey, Stevie & Fleetwood Mac as a whole) were all on the same record label. It would create a whole bunch of negative circumstances if the three artistic entities were on different labels.

It wouldn't have been so easy for Lindsey to "fold his solo album into a Fleetwood Mac album" if they'd been on separate labels.

For touring the draw may be Stevie. But there would be no new FM music without Lindsey, and I think Stevie would tell you that herself. Lindsey is "the sound" of FM. He is the magician that knows exactly what to do with her songs, and his songs keep them (FM) fresh and new. Look at the albums after he left. He is what makes them great, in my opinion.

I think the band wants him in charge. As a matter of fact, I was watching the DR Doc the other night and he and Stevie are discussing the double album idea, and she says to him, "well if they don't want to do it, are YOU going to go to Interscope"? That to me says that they (FM) tend to follow his lead on label decisions. So I think Lindsey absolutely should go to a label and say, here's my solo stuff, here's Stevie's and here's FM.

I think the only reason they put out solo records is because they are prolific writers, that have too much material for a solo FM record but they want to get it out there so, do it. Put them all on the merch table, or better yet, do as some artists do and add a fee to the ticket price and give them a choice of CD when the ticket holder walks thru the door. Add some of the solo songs to the FM tour, change it up. If the music business is changing, change with it.

At the end of the day, they are musician's and they just want to make music and play.
