This is terrible news.

In reality, not performing songs from Tango is no big deal, although When I See You Again could be great live. It's mostly the lack of Street Angel material that bothers me - it's not like the majority of the songs from the album were written during 'that time'. If she's not happy with the way they turned out she could always rework them slightly and still take them on the road. Love Is Like River and Listen To the Rain could be so great live, paired up with Fall From Grace. She could take Destiny and Enchanted and kind of mash them up into one song medley - or add Thousand Days or Kick It into her live sets - both would be great. Since she loves cover songs so much, why not perform her own released covers - Just Like A Woman for example.

Stevie's a strange bird, for sure. I can't think of another artist who ignores a decade of their own work when touring.

I think she will probably add five new songs to the core set: "Dreams," "Rhiannon," "Gold Dust Woman," "Stand Back," "Edge of Seventeen," "Landslide," "Love Is," and "Sorcerer." The other two will probably be "Outside the Rain" and one cover song (probably "Rock and Roll" because she likes to have at least one hard rocker in the set).

Okay, so now that we're not even ten shows into the H&S Tour, can we at least acknowledge some nice changes she has made in this short period of time?

-One brand new song.
-No cover songs (after Tampa).
-Three duets (so far, and counting).
-Changed up set list order.

Baby steps, surely, but moving in the right direction.
i think the core set is everything you said plus if anyone falls and fall from grace. also, i'm thinking rock and roll back in, secret love, and 3 other new songs for her solo shows

I'm more perturbed at the lack of material from Rock a Little and The Other Side of the Mirror. There's nothing from Street Angel that I'm dying for her to do.

I'd love to hear Alice and/or Juliet from the Mirror album, and The Nightmare & Talk to Me from Rock a Little.

I kinda wish she'd do the unthinkable and mix up some of her Fleetwood Mac selections. It's more of a given that when she's out with the Mac she would play the "classics" but I wish in her solo world she'd explore some of the more obscure band stuff.

I won't try to pick the new songs, but I'll just include three new songs in my set. And I'd absolutely love for Stevie to open with a rocker off the new album. Screw the obvious choice of Stand Back, Gold Dust Woman, Outside the Rain/Dreams...start with something new and fresh!

NEW SONG
I Don't Want to Know
Think About It
NEW SONG
After the Glitter Fades
That's Alright (Acoustic)
NEW SONG
Sisters of the Moon
When I See You Again
Rooms On Fire
Blue Lamp
Fall From Grace
Stand Back
Edge of Seventeen
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You

Me too. Didn't she recently say that TOSOTM was her favorite record even tho her dad said it was probably her worst? And she said she did most of that record before the klonopin really hit her. I can understand why she doesn't pull any rarities out from TOSOTM or Tango, but I think Rooms On Fire and Whole Lotta Trouble should be an exception to her rule.

I haven't read anything where she recently spoke about OSOTM. A long time ago she claimed that OSOTM was her dad's favorite record.

Not quite. You have it backwards. Stevie's dad told her OSOTM was his least favorite record. And the last time I heard Stevie speak about Mirror was her calling it her "Magic" record on Behind The Music in 1998. She has never referred to it as her favorite record that I know of, not even when it was released. Thats not something that Stevie will usually go on record as saying anyway. The statement of hers that rings close, is when she was calling TISL her masterpiece some years back, and then last year hawking In Your Dreams as possibly going down in history as her best work.

My memory has gone to hell. I could have swore she said it was his favorite.

I remember her referring to it as her "magic" record, and not much else.

When I say recent, I mean 1998-2007. I swear there was some quote where she said her father told her The Other Side of the Mirror was the worst album she had ever done, but she said she really loved that album and it was her favorite/one of her favorites and there was some really great stuff on it because most of it was written before the really bad klonopin years. Does anybody else remember this quote?

I actually think "Fall From Grace" is Stevie's "Go Your Own Way", both thematically and musically.

I think it was that 1996 heart benefit when she was introducing Rooms on Fire. someone would have to check on that though. the concert she did in someones back yard or something like that. but yeah... i do recall her saying that her dad thought it was her worst record!!

This isn't the quote I was talking about, but here is one:

"Lucky me, I had written the songs for The Other Side of the Mirror [1989] before the Klonopin kicked in. I was very happy with them, and still am. I really love that record. Somewhere out on that tour the stuff kicked in and brought me to my knees."

No. It couldn't. The beauty about a thread is that it can (and will) change as time goes on.

You may say insane. But there are at least 54 people (I think thats how many replies to the post there are) for whom the thread was started at just the right time.

Just read this article and had to go dig this old thread up! I knew I wasn't crazy!

My favorite song of yours is "Ooh My Love," from 1989. People always forget that one.

That's one of my favorites too. In fact, The Other Side of the Mirror is probably my favorite album. Those songs were written right before the Klonopin kicked in. "In the shadow of the castle walls" — that song was very important to me. I was lucky those songs were written when they were, before that nasty tranquilizer. It was a really intense record. People don't talk about that record much, but it was different from all the others. It was a moment in time. I had gotten away from the cocaine in 1986. I spent a year writing those songs. I was drug-free and I was happy.
