His opinions were thoughtful & sharp & expressed with clarity & style, & his design work was well above the Stevie fanzine timbre. He wrote articles on, inter alia, official & underground videos, demo timelines & analyses, karate lessons for the band, & the Lifetime Network concert-in-the-works for Stevie.
I totally agree with you Mike's fanzine was awesome. I still have all my copies of Mirror, Mirror & Belle Fluer (missing the first complete on was on RAL though--with a different name? don't recall right now)...do you have a copy of the first couple of issues? Esp the RAL issue. I know I'd still love a copy of it....if not the original. It was awesome in the day when fanzine's were the 'only' way you could really get Stevie/Fmac info....before the Net that is. The Net is cool in it's own way. I personally still 'love' to have something in my own hands that I can feel and touch and look at over and over again even if I've read it all before. I love to get snail mail.....it's great. I'm thrilled.....thanks for all your hardwork , Barb, I sure hope to contribue to a future issue of the fanzine for sure....somehow that is. I like what the Enchantress did to with Silver Springs fanzine. Nice color pages. It was a great fanzine for it's time. Sad we only got 4 issues out of it though. Yeah, I wonder what happend to her? Wasn't her name like , Kathy? or something like that? To those that haven't expericed the 'old' fanzine days...get Barbs fanzine....I think you'll really enjoy it all.........

I think it WAS "Kathy", Sue, I met her at the Fleetwood Mac convention in Austin, but I couldn't remember her real name, never heard where she went or anything.
The fanzines were SO much fun, I think the most fun was getting it in the "real" mail, and looking thru the stuff, and such. There is SO much info and beautiful websites online,
that to do a fanzine "online" to me would be not worth the trouble, as it would be like visiting someone's great Stevie dedicated website, and there are so many of those, BUT, there are not ANY real fanzines which are mailed to your mailbox, with lots of surprises and fun! I want this fanzine to have the old school feel to it, before everyone had computers and websites and access to everything.. I just hope it is fun for you guys, too...

Yeah, I think in Mikes Mirror, Mirror he said who she was...before that I never had any clue. I wonder what happend to Mike? Anyone know? He was such a big Stevie fan. Was he a member on one of these message boards? Anyone know? Either way, can't wait for the fanzine, Barb, can't wait for that snail mail.......

Never saw those predecessors. I only have the three he did with Eric Alvey:
  • Issue #1: Jan/Feb 1996
  • Issue #2: Spring 1996
  • Issue #3: Summer 1996
The only drawback I found with these publications was the very overt anti-FM stance of the articles. Certainly, a Nicks fanzine writer is perfectly entitled to disparage & lambaste all the other members (& this was the Rumours incarnation), but it made reading the fanzine kind of prickly, from time to time, kind of a downer to me.

But when these guys concentrated just on Stevie news, there was so much excellent info that had been dug up from around the country & then compiled into literate analysis that the drawback was minimized.

Well, way way back, we actually used to type up our lists & mimeograph them & mail them around to one another. This was back around 1980. We'd also add our news to the mimeograph. That's how we'd find out from our fan base what was happening on tours, &c., when the Pop Eye of the Calendar section of the L.A. Times (or the Random Notes in Rolling Stone) didn't cover something. And of course everyone was on the phone in those days too.

Do you guys remember the sad story of Jean Enloe & her aborted fanzine?
