There is this option under options:

The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.
x Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages

With the email you receive from the Penguin, you can read the contents of the PM.

Yes, it is a bit one-sided once the PM system is down but at least you can read what you have received from those who can PM or PMs you received prior to being unable to access.

You can use the User CP link to receive/send PMs until this is fixed.

i had this alot too the past couple of days, it was driving me nuts not knowing who they were from or about, it's fixed for now tho & brit i answered you!!!~
