it IS easily proveable. (is that spelled right?) and people have testified. I believe the media is being controlled, so your "feeding frenzy" theory is bunkum. There's plenty of evidence there, but no one has the cojones to push it thru aside from Boxer and Conyers...

Good articles and they're quite liberal actually. They published the photo of Laura giving a speaker at King's funeral the "stank eye (TM Stephanie Miller)" for criticizing the president. It is not a flattering photo. If you don't get it I will try to send a copy of some of the best parts. I bought this mag to support my cousin in Girl Scouts not realizing it actually had journalism in it. I got it for the pics!

Gore said he had a hand in creating Arpanet. He made sure it was funded and it became the backbone of the internet. He never said he "invented" it. That was a misquote that Faux ran with and spun and somehow it became "the truth". He never said it.

I don't like the whole censorship thing either but I also think our children lose their innocense way too soon. However, I think her take on the Pyromania cover is just silly, I'd never heard that!

Tipper has helped to raise awareness of depression as an illness as opposed to some kind of moral failure. She's not all bad. Movies have ratings, why not CDs? How else will parents know what is in them?

I actually think the majority of Americans I've met are very nice. In Europe anyway. I've met a few assholes in Florida.

I think the same can be said for the UK too lately.

Yeah, Murrow warned that the idiot box could be used to twist perception and how dangerous that would be. It is really sad his prediction has come to fruition. It is impossible to be absolutely objective but striving for objectivity is important. But not to a news machine owned by only 5 companies which are all conserative. That is the case for 90% of our news outlets.

I think AAR should pick up Murrow, maybe Steph will use it.

I was wonder, are English people rude in general? Like driving along do they tend to follow the rules or behave as though they are the only one on the road? Or walking along a sidewalk, do they pretend you're transparent and can be walked through? People here are so rude sometimes I can't even take it. Someone hit my parked car last week and my left front blinker just fell out so there's a gaping hole there. People suck.

I hear you on your earlier statement. Most people are stupid but "you" are smart. Once when I was skiing with my family as a teen my dad said "50% of people are stupid". I grilled him about where his data came from, he admitted it was from his butt. However, now I joke that he was almost right but it is 53% given the election results of '04.

I think the PMRC had a good idea -- they just went about it in all the wrong ways.
Whereas it should have been presented in a more logical, "this would be helpful to parents and to consumers in general" kind of way, it was presented in a hysterical, "our children's souls will be damned for all eternity if we let them listen to this music" kind of way.

And while I think rating systems for movies, music, video games and TV shows can be a good thing, it's also sad to think that so many contemporary parents use these things in lieu of actual parenting.

When my father was in the army, one of the places he was stationed was Australia, and he sent my mother (I wasn't born yet -- in fact, they weren't married yet) a little stuffed koala that was covered in real koala fur. When I was a few years old, it became my bedtime buddy. Eventually though, he was loved so much that all of his stuffing came out.

Kerry is an idiot. (Sorry Suze! ) He ran a horrible campaign... a monkey should have been able to beat Bush. Kerry would have won Ohio without the Rethug dirty tricks, but the election should never have been that close.

Still, I disliked Al & Tipper's visit to the OKC National Memorial in April 2000, When on local TV Al was overheard saying within moments of arriving to lay a wreath at the site "Let's Go" (He must have been insane to not realize that what we Oklahomans were watching this event live on TV, Hell the microphones were right there, Maybe Tipper's ego blocked 'em out)...5 minutes after arriving he & his wife left, Without meeting local leaders & survivors.

Tipper is a tool...During a late 2000 campaign stop in Tulsa, she met with a group of Democratic supporting Public School Teachers for a luncheon to garner support for her husband.

After her short speech (Which was broadcast statewide) she fielded questions from those in attendance, The first was a question asked was from an African American school teacher about her husband's "supposed" Pro-Public School stance (The question was something along the lines of the following, I am going by memory since this was over 6 years ago) : "Mrs.Gore, Your husband has a platform that if he is elected that he will increase spending on public schools...But isnt that ironic that while your family is pro-public school none of your children have ever attended a public school...", To which Tipper looked like a deer caught in 10 lane superhighway with semi-trailers bounding at her at 70MPH from all directions, So immediately she exited the stage & promptly left this luncheon (bka "Took her ball and went home")...Much to the disappointment of the Democrats who invited her.

She was lambasted on the news for days afterwards.

I agree he ran a horrible campaign. He definitely tried to play to the middle. It was frustrating at best. Politicians have to take a stand and tell the truth instead of just talking and saying nothing. I know, that's expecting a lot. He did a lot of that. Still, by my perception, he came off as light years more capable than Bush.

His biggest obstacle to being president was his analysis paralysis. He's actually announced he may run in '08. He would have to run a completely different campaign to get anywhere. I hope he decides not to run at all because I don't think he's a great candidate after losing in '04. He's just perceived as a loser IMO.

Here in MA he and Kennedy vote to support the environment and the little guy. He is in line with my beliefs regarding what is important and would get my vote again if he ran again.
