I despised Silver Girl until about 2 months ago when I decided to listen again and fell in love with it, especially the melody/lyrics to the chorus. It makes me really sad that so many people detest it

The only problem I have with it was that it was inspired but Sheryl Crow and I can't get that out of my head when I hear it.

But Curtis LOVES STREET ANGEL too-
Hence, the brotherhood of the song I haven't heard---

Thanks for the explanation...but I need to hear the song and I am not going to buy the entire SA CD cuz all in all I heard it was not good
But thanks for the explanation of what it means to you and your input...

There's nothing wrong with that line grammatically.

no kidding.
that is NOT the line i was referring to

StreetAngel86 - I love your description of the song Street Angel and why it means so much to you. That is my favorite song on the album and can relate to it for many of the reasons you stated. Thank you for being so articulate. It feels great when someone can relate to a song on a similarly deep level, especially when a lot of others don't appreciate it. I wish more people understood the song as you and I do. The sadness, imagery, haunting story, music, and vocals. It is one of her best IMO. I'm definitely a Street Angel!

wanna have a SA listening party before one of the MAC concerts next year?

I will always be grateful for TISL - her "little masterpiece." And yes, I know a lot of people don't think much of "Everyday" and "TMMS," but those two songs affected me deeply in different ways. The first time I heard "Everyday" on the radio, I fell in love with the song and the voice, but had no idea who it was. I finally found out it was Stevie and was really surprised since I really liked FM starting in '97 with "The Dance." But before TISL, I never paid much attention to Stevie. So "Everyday" was the song that started my whole love affair with her music.

"TMMS" really hit me in the gut when I was having problems with depression. The line "well, I tell the shadows of my soul to stay back, everything has changed now" somehow inspired me and made me feel a bit better.

"Love Is" will always touch me deeply because it was released around the time my beloved dog died, and there's a line in that song that describes almost exactly what happened when I found out my dog had to be put down. Somehow I felt like she was speaking directly to me.

My other opinions:

*Her music is beautiful, mystical, meaningful and inspiring.
*She is simply gorgeous, for any age. I've seen women who've had plastic surgery to remove wrinkles and they still have some. Stevie has no smile lines, nothing! Her face is captivating, that hair is amazing.
*Her original style will always strike a chord with me. She's never boring (except I do think a few new outfits to mix things up would be extra nice).
*She makes "zaftig" look good. Skinny or heavier, she just somehow manages to stay young-looking and gorgeous. And she's inspiring that you don't have to be a stick to be attractive.
*She loves her fans. Do you think you could get so close to a stage and shake hands with Madonna? I think not...
*That voice. Whether speaking or singing, it's incredible.
*She kicked her addictions. Enough said.
*Finally, she's just such a cute little munchkin. How could anyone not love her?

OK, if I've made anyone ready to vomit with my glowing Stevie remarks, I'm sorry! But the woman can do no wrong in my eyes.

But it's really not. There are some awesome songs on there. Some up up songs, and crazy fun lyrics. That's her thing. She gives us these amazing images. There's a few not so hot tracks too. But...all of her albums have at least one miss.
I agree. Her best albums are sprinkled with a couple of absolute gems and a couple of utterly forgettable tracks.

Golly Gee- Thanks for the advice-
I hadn't thought of that!!

And here I was being polite and explaining my mistake in thinking that you were Curtis.
You most certainly are not he...He would not respond in such a rude and elementary manner!

Not everybody loves cute little munchkins, I guess. But I sure do!

What if she shoots your puppy?

If Stevie ever shoots my puppy, I'll kick her ass from here to Dyfed.

Oh no - what do you mean? I hope it's just an addiction to knitting or something...

Stevie would be scared of my "puppy" since he's a loose cannon. But if she tried to hurt him, I'd sell all of my DVDs and CDs on half.com and never visit this board again. Oh, and haul her butt into the cops! Hmph.

Welcome back girl! I haven't seen you in a while. Hope all is well with you Thank you for sharing your personal stories of Everyday, TMMS, and Love Is. Regardless of what others think about these song I always think it's so wonderful when these songs have personal significance for us fans and I love hearing the stories (I can't wait to hear how Jane has touched someone!). Never let anyone else's opinions of these songs take away their deep meaning for you, please!

true.

I have friends not really into FM/SN, except for the big hits, and they all love Love Is.

Thats a little harsh... StreetAngel was just saying that maybe you should listen to the album & make your own (informed) descision instead of taking other peoples word for it!

^^ Unless of course you were joking ((sometimes its hard to tell because you can't see the people and if they are serious or not!)) and the joke just went way over my head... in which case... carry on!

I happen to like Street Angel (the album)... its not my favourite, but its definatly up there!
