I'm sorry if I'm the only one that gets annoyed with the principle "do as I say, not as I do." It's not just Stevie, I get annoyed with all people who are like that.

You know, some people are just fickle. I have a friend who is like this. She'll go on Atkins and go on and on about how she doesn't think about sweets anymore, she's never going to eat pasta again, etc. Then next month she'll go off of that and say Atkins doesn't work and she's just doing low-calorie forever. Then she'll go off of that and say it's all about exercise.
Or she'll break up with a guy and say she's through with him forever, but then next month she's back with him and downplaying all of his faults and rewriting their history.

It used to drive me nuts until I realized that's just how some people are. It's my feeling Stevie is probably sincere in what she says at that moment, whether it be about smoking, Fleetwood Mac, men, etc. etc. Then when she says something later, she's sincere in that moment, too, even if it completely contradicts what she said in the last interview. I don't think she is trying to say "do as I say, not as I do." I think she just rewrites her story as it suits her.

Romy

!!!!!

and just wait until you come across what she wrote on New Year's
eve one night in the early 80s. Flame away, but it's on sararhiannon.com.
So yeah, Thank You, God, and in my opinion -
Yeah - we could have lost her.
And not to harp on it but the Stand Back Today Show appearance,
from what little I can see, I admit -
was all an act. By the way I forgot something about that -
this was 5:30 in the morning for her. I doubt she had even slept.
One starts to feel tired under these conditions. . . .
And just a tiny, little tug, of needing a little bit of an energy boost.
And it wouldn't have been pretty.
And it wouldn't have been nice.
And it would have been painful.

"It was one for you...it was three for me
It was very nice...it was everything
So here it is...in little pieces...
I just played the part...I didn't win or lose
Maybe next time I'll think about how I'm feeling...
"Cause I'm doing the best that I can
And the whispered secrets...go on and on
No one says anything to anyone
You watch after her...and your word is law
She thought she was out there...but nobody saw.
In my distress...well I wanted someone to blame me
In my devastation...I wanted so to change
In my way(ve)...dis-aster was the only thing that I could depend on...
But it's alright, baby...I'm doing the best that I can."

Trust me or don't trust me,
believe me or don't -
this was a close thing. . . .
She's strong, yeah.
But everybody has limits.
And maybe I'm over-estimating it,
in fact, I flat-out admit I probably am.
My real point is -
please don't under-estimate it.

She's an actress -
we'll never
really
know.

Nice of her to be so open about these things, by the way. . . .
That's fine but it wasn't my point.

I meant no disrespect. Again, this is fine but it wasn't my point.

Maybe sometimes someone who's not an angel can rock the world

I'm gonna go head to the Carnegie Library now and then see how
many hundreds of millions of dollars Clinton and Busche have raised

Those things still don't make her any less of a hypocrite if she's still smoking dope. Methinks that you're looking at this through glasses that will show Stevie to be a saint in every respect no matter what. She's only human, but the fact that a rock star is giving interview after interview about how horrible drugs and cigarettes are, how no one should use them, and then turns around to indulge in such substances herself is laughable. It must be nice for her to sit on such a high horse. If she can't refrain from using such things, she shouldn't open her big mouth to lecture others on using them.

I do not think she has ever said not to use pot or not to drink? My recollection is she talks about how she got caught up in coke and Klonopin and she expressly has said those are the only two things she had a problem with. In fact, she expressly said in more than one interview that she had a problem only with those two. It is possible for cocaine addicts to stop that and still drink booze. I know people who do this and a are successful at it.

As for the cigs, I think she quit awhile back and maybe has occasional relapses as many former smokers do. But, I think she is valid in her notion that she should quit. I mean what is she supposed to do, call CNN and say "I know I told the world I stopped smoking, but last Tuesday night I slipped and had one and I think everyone should know that lest people think I am a fake"

She is a human being for goodness sake - sometimes even she is allowed to fall. But, to you, that makes her a weak, supercilious bitch who needs your judgment from your high horse. I say high horse because if you have ever tried to quit something you bitch to others about and failed in any way, this makes you a hypocrite for castigating La Nicks for her humanity.

You're not going to believe me in a million years but -
I love 'er 'ta death but - I and all of my friends from school
(and pretty much anybody in my not really all that ancient age
group) pretty much "had Stevie figured out from the get-go."
Ain't no rose-colored glasses here. I just think trying to save
others lives, is better than not bothering.
By the way I'm a huge Journey fan also -
would you like to know what I think of Steve Perry?
'cause, I'M not under contract to say nice things about him,
the way the rest of the members of the band (other than Perry)
are.
She's a "rock star," I don't deny that, and neither does Stevie,
apparently. Anyway I don't really have much of point other than
that it's for God to judge. But I like to encourage positivity,
and I think she's made a positive effort here.

a). Maybe she would have said to herself, "Hmmmm - THIS person
doesn't take any SH*T! - Let's keep him/her around!"

b). PSSSST: VH-1.com lists this video as a Sheryl Crow video.
Why would Stevie in a million years have been "editing"
a video - which is not her own - when she's by definition
TERRIBLE with "tech stuff" and has never worked as an "editor"
in her life??? "Maybe I'm totally wrong but who's to say what's
right?"

Blah blah. I stand by what I said.
