Here's the thing about Lindsey's intro... It isn't really depressing. It's actually hopeful.

I don't think it's right to attribute anyone's attempted to suicide to an artist's music, unless perhaps the person dated the artist and then the artist wrote some bitter songs about him or her or something of that nature. Whether the intro is hopeful or hopeless, that doesn't really matter, I don't think. What would drive someone to attempt suicide would be something that's actually happening (or not happening) in his or her life. I could be wrong.

But about the point you're trying to make--I do agree. The last line makes it optimisitc rather than hopeless.
