My favorite was Petals On the Wind. I think I actually cried when the remaining twin killed herself with rat poison in it.

I used to LOVE those. My favourite one was called The Best Word Book Ever. I looked at it so much, that cover fell off.

I Spy books were pretty cool too. WAY better then Where's Waldo.

OMG!! I loved those! How could I forget?? My favourite was Busy, Busy World. Was that what it was called? Every page was a different part of the world.

Richard Scarry! My favourite was this one where the baker accidentally bakes a talking doll into a loaf of bread. hehe

I love any book by Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume. I especially love Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. My class does novel studies on the whole "Fudge" series.

I'll add these that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet: (1) Sounder, (2) Holes, (3) My Side of the Mountain, and (4) The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. These are all young adult books.

For smaller kids I like: (1) If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, etc. There is a whole series of books like these they are very cute. (2) The Pop Up Series by David Carter like Love Bugs, (3) Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Also, for any age, Shel Silverstein has a set of poetry books that are hilarious! Light in the Attic, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and Falling Up. I just love them!

OMG - How could Shel Silverstein have been left off until now? I LOVED him.....

And recently I've grown fond of the books (from reading to my nephew): Click Clack Moo and Auntie Claus (Christmas book) - cute books.

Of course I've not seen my nephew in a few months - apparently now HE likes to read to people lol...I can't wait to have him read to me when I'm home in a month.

Omigod, I love that book, too, and still have a copy! It's pretty beat up, though. Those drawings of nightime, then with the bright firefly, mesmerized me as a young kid. I also have The Best Nest by Eastman

I loved the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary, and I'm trying so hard to get my daughter to get into those! She likes a newer series written by Barbara Parks, the Junie B. Jones series. Junie B. reminds me of Ramona...

I also loved all of Judy Blume's books, from Superfudge books to Forever ...My mom started to buy Forever for me, but unfortunately, she read the first page and decided against it. Soooo, my friends and I would go in the bookstore every time we went to the mall and read some of it. (It was never available in the library!)

I confess that I also read those lame Sweet Valley books...ya know, the ones where the entire first chapter gave the SAME description of the twins---perfect size 6, green eyes, silky blond hair, etc.

I also remember liking Pippi Longstocking books and Miss Wigglepiggle (???), or was it Pigglewiggle...or now am I thinking of the Piggly Wiggly grocery store?

I really liked The Witch of Blackbird Pond. It is still in print but they changed the cover, it used to be nice and witchy! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...59004?v=glance

I also read the Sweet Valley High books. I love love love everything by Judy Blume although I never did read Forever! I can't believe that.

There was a book I liked when I was small about a dog, I think his name was Rags, and he is a stray that is taken in reluctantly by a store owner. He winds up thwarting a robbery attempt and becomes a hero and the apple of the store owner's eye. I cannot remember what it was called though and I can't find it!

I read a lot when I was younger, I loved it, still do.

That book, Witch of Blackbird pond, reminded me of another book I liked. I hope I remember it, cause that book kicked ass, and I think there was a witch in it. Anyways, now I want to read Witch of Blackbird pond.
I thought of another book I really liked, The Girl With the Silver Eyes - she could move things with her mind.
I never read Forever, either, which I think is weird because I definitely would have... Maybe I'll read it now.

I read another witchy book that kicked ass too but I don't know the name of it. The witch could "see" radio waves and such and was put off by how much of the air was being taken up by these waves. Imagine that now!

I think you'd like the Witch of Blackbird Pond. I really loved it, I think I identified with that character. Inside I was fabulous and wearing expensive gorgeous fabrics in my imagination, but outside I was forced to live a spartan existence due to the necessary frugality of my family. She comes from colorful, warm Barbados, a very wealthy young lady, and moves to Connecticut to live with family in the 1600s when everything was gray and yucky.

Yeah, I've been reading a few pages on Amazon, and I was like "oh, you had to leave Barbados? Bum"
