If anyone thinks it is okay to lie to the police - then I just do not know why we bother having laws at all

Note - this is not directed at anyone in particular - just general venting

Again, avoiding this altogether...I knew that somehow this would become end up being about Bush, just like most threads on this board.

Sorry...I'm avoiding the political topics on this board now. You guys can find another republican to treat like dirt...not me anymore, I'm done!

Again, screw it, let us just let all people lie to the piloce with no ramifications that mean anything. Maybe we should have just fined her $100 and called her a nasty name. Again, she lied to the police in an investigation and you people are willing to let her off the hook. i will never get it - ever.

AND - she has no one to thank but herself - she lied

I never said let her off the hook. Quote me. I simply recommended a different form of punishment that fit the crime.

I suggest no convicted rapist has ever served six months in a minimum security prison If you can find such a case - I would be interested to see it because every rape statute I can think of allows no such light penalty. But, you may know of one that does

AND - MS did steal, she stole from the people who did not have the luxury of her insider information - yet she gets a free pass.

Wasn't she offered a fine and to plead guilty and she refused it Again, she is to blame for this. She chose to lie and thought there would be no consequences - she was wrong.

I do agree with you that there are larger fish than Martha to fry. However, breaking the law is breaking the law no matter who you are Thus, I have no pity for her.

They do not! We engage in some very enthralling discussions about politics on here. They're the most interesting I encounter. I've learned a lot from reading posts by Josh, Jason, Christy, Tiff and several others. They have made me look past myself and see other viewpoints. There are lots of differing opinions here--you just don't see that for some reason.

Considering how dramatically different the other Republicans on this board act towards everyone, I think everyone would have to come down to good ole Louisiana to find another Republican similar to you.

Ah! So glad you're here. I still don't think the punishment fits the crime, though, which was my point.

Yes he should have if they could prove it, which it appears they could have.

Interestingly, Martha sis not go to jail for insider trading, she went for obstruction of justice, and she was guilty of that.

So, she's still saying that she's innocent at this point?
