I know no budget when I shop for CDs. If I see something I want, I snatch it up. I just spent $55 on an album from Alex Kapranos pre-Franz Ferdinand and went on a spree last week at a used music store. I'm a whore and am the same way with DVDs.

I should put myself on a budget, too, I've been meaning to for years. But I see it as this is money, it's meant to be spent and I'm not taking it with me. I think it has to do with being so frugal for years and years during college that now when I get money in my pocket, I want to spend it instantly. When I first got the job I have now, I went out and maxed out my $5,000 credit limit on a card in only three hours. Boy, did I kick myself as I opened each thing I bought.

you sure are. I do that in the bookstore, well, only occasionally, cause i'm broke, but when i do, it's in the bookstore...I've also learned to limit my trips to the tibetan jewelry store.... And may i add that $350 bucks for one FM ticket seriously cut into my budget last year??? so very, very worth it...

You're like that with books, too?! Get me in a bookstore and I'll come out with fifteen things I know I'll never even read. Love art and film books, I must have thousands. I had to stop going to Barnes and Noble, though, because they're are ridiculous with their prices. DVDs and CDs are full retail price, no discount for the most part. And you can get better discounts on books at Waldenbooks or little indie bookstores.

Never would I pay that for a concert, not even if it was their last tour. I've seen Tom Petty many times and never paid more than $50, and that includes being up near the stage. Saw Sheryl Crow for $35. Saw Blondie many, many times and never paid more than $35, even saw them at free concerts. Melissa Etheridge was $30. Aimee Mann was $15 when I saw her!

yeah, those art and picture books are expens, i don't really buy those, cause i can't read them. I usually hit the used bookstore right across the street from B&N, to check first. Plus, i can trade my books there if they're in good shape. that's weird you buy books you'll never read. I always get ones i read. But i buy them because i have to, cause i'll go nutter butter without something to read. I usually just buy regular novels, though...

It's just that I have so many that I'll never get to half of them while I'm alive. I'm a book snob, though, it has to be something really fantastic for me to like it.

well, i had to, that's all there was left by the time i could buy it. Also, when i snuck in and saw them in Oakland from way back the year before, i promised myself that if I ever saw them again, i would be in front. Lo and behold, extended tour. They were also playing at my stadiums right next to my 30th birthday, so that was another extenuating circumstance. It's like it was fated....However, normally i would never, ever pay that much. I actually won tickets to the show, but they were lawn, and there was no way. Plus, I really thought i would never have a chance to see all of them again, after they did the DAnce. so it was really, really, like i had to do it. Next time i'm gonna have a fund saved, so i can get front row at a normal price. Plus, they are my fav, fav, fav, fav, fav band ever. As in, i hardly listen to a bunch of other stuff, as you can tell...
