A long song is fine if it's going somewhere. As has been said, I love the intro to In The Back Of My Mind. And I love the intro to SOTM. And the song BTM.
Sometimes though, instrumentals go nowhere...part of the live Stand Back intro, Mick's drum solo...
Don't we all...

That Taku **** before Stand Back makes me fall asleep. It's as satisfying as letting a kid into your kitchen to bang on your pots and pans with a wooden spoon. Mick's drum solo should be banished for all of eternity.

Sorry, I forgot. The unfinished train of thought in the first verse threw me off. And I try to block it out for the most part because of those singing Smurfs at the tail end of it.

yes I agree. The Dance version of that song is perfecto. It's pretty much the version I stick to when I've played it live. Although I changed the solo now to match the "Live in Boston" version too. Love his riffs on that stuff!

Like I said, I like All Over Again a lot, but I can't stand most of Chris's other tunes on it, which is rare for me.

I love that, especially the drums. I love the looser feel of this version compared to the Shake The Cage Tour tight version.

Dear God, that thing goes on FOREVER. So does the EO17 intro.... I remember the song itself as ending up being 14 minutes or so when I got the mp3.

I think it's just that it's so fast.

Yeah, the music. You think I like it for the lyrics and the Popeye vocals?

I was actually quite pissed that they shortened Atomic on the last tour. It used to be epic and they cut it down to five minutes. There can never be enough of Atomic, silly. I totally dug the sound effects that they added onto Rapture, especially the one after she sings "wild attack." Cracks me up.

I agree with the HOG album version, though. I rarely listen to it.

The album versions, at least.
I named Rapture in the first post.

Atomic is my favorite song by them, though I know only the album version. And I can't listen to it without thinking of shampoo.

I skip over that part so much I don't even know when that part comes in.
My favorite is the live album version. When Debbie returns after the long instrumental (and only Blondie could morph a song into a spaghetti western dirge and make it work), she sounds so ****ing sexy with that low voice and then nails the very end. Listen to it again, Greg.

I don't really listen to the album version of that one, either. I do like the special disco mix on the resissue, though, for some strange reason.

Cool You're such a perv....

Honestly, some versions of Sara are far too long but I was absolutely enthralled with her performances on the SYW tour. I do find Come to be rather annoying at certain points (in the song, wiseasses). I venture to guess it's the repetitiveness of SYW that makes people think it's far too long. I run hot and cold with that song. I find Lindsey's Go Insane album to have some ridiculously long songs on it (namely Play In The Rain and its continuation -- I loose interest after he yells "LET'S PLAY" during the first part -- or maybe it's because that line is so hot that everything after is incredibly anticlimactic? )
