April 29, 2011 Yes, that is THE YOKO ONO on our May Music Issue cover! Don’t worry, we can’t believe it either. The STATUS team has been working hard, and our ART Department did something special. They went crazy illustrating almost every article (not all, but you know what I mean) and we promise you’ll love every single one of them. http://statusmagonline.com/status-ma...ue/#more-21335 http://imaginepeace.com/archives/14761 |

Wonderful. I'll be getting that magazine. I adore the picture. I find Yoko to be an interesting subject for a portrait. Her face has stories to tell.

Undercover
April 29, 2011 Concert For George [Harrison] Gets Cinematic Release In Australia The iconic Concert for George is going to see a cinematic release this weekend across Australia. The show took place on November 29, 2002 - one year to the day after the death of the “quiet” Beatle, George Harrison and features music written by and/or loved by George performed by his close friends including Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Jools Holland, Jim Keltner, Gary Brooker (Procol Harem), Joe Jeff Lynne (ELO), Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Ravi Shankar’s Orchestra and more. http://www.undercover.fm/news/14535-...e-in-australia Antimusic April 27, 2011 George Martin Reflects On The Beatles (Gibson) One can forgive Sir George Martin for not doing too much press these days. The former Beatles producer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who turned 85 earlier this year, has not produced an album since 2006's Beatles mash-up, Love, for Cirque du Soleil. Beyond that, he's answered every conceivable question about his former colleagues one could ask. But with a new documentary set to air on the BBC, Martin sat down with The Independent to talk about his career, and yes, in particular, those magical days with the Fab Four. http://www.antimusic.com/news/11/apr..._Beatles.shtml Big Hollywood April 2011 Seth Swirsky’s ‘Beatles Stories’ an Epic Unto Itself An e-mail exchange with John Lennon’s ex-lover May Pang set Seth Swirsky on a crash course in documentary filmmaking. The singer-songwriter with both a bevy of chart toppers and a respected solo career to his credit, met Pang about six years ago following an email introduction. Swirsky asked Pang if they could take an impromptu tour of Lennon’s infamous “lost weekend” hot spots circa the early 1970s. http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/cf...c-unto-itself/ Last edited by msLinds; 05-01-2011 at 12:46 PM.. |

![]() I read a little about George Martin's reflections and how he was a bit pi$$ed that John stated he wanted to re-record ALL the Beatles songs (including Strawberry Fields which is MY personal fave) and...I understand where John was coming from. Really brilliant people are never fully satisfied with their work. (Unless you're Paul McCartney, of course, who always seems beyond pleased with everything he's ever done.) I think John had a restless spirit, and a fast mind. He probably envisioned something in his mind and when the final product fell short. Even if the final product is the greatest song to ever be set to record, it fell short he was somewhat disappointed. That was John for you. I think a lot of people don't "get" that and most of those people aren't necessarily artists to the degree that John was. As much as I will be criticized for saying this, Lady Gaga had it right when she exclaimed she isn't always satisfied with her work, though she knows it's good the work falls short of her expectations. John was this and more so. Also, I have Seth Swirsky music! He's great. And I believe they will be showing his documentary at Abbey Road On The River. I hope you and 3rd World Man decide what you want from AROTR from me. I want to share something with the two other biggest Beatles/John fans on the Ledge. ![]()

On Yoko's Facebook page she posted a link to her AMAZING song "Walking On Thin Ice" and the gorgeous explanation of the song, which left me and tons in tears.
Here's the link. Enjoy and share your own feelings on the flawless greatness last-song-John-Lennon-ever-touched amazing-ness that is "Walking On Thin Ice." http://soundcloud.com/yokoono/walking-on-thin-ice Oh, and right before the song begins is John saying, "I think you got your very first number 1 Yoko." So eerie, because it was in fact her first number 1. ![]() John Lennon: Yoko Ono's greatest fan Last edited by Nico; 05-04-2011 at 11:25 PM.. I got rabies at the Zoo
April 27, 2011 Interview with Yoko Ono Lennon Yoko Ono. What else is there to say? A woman who needs no introduction. A woman who was in love with the most significant musician in the world. When the press was released that Yoko Ono would be performing in Austin, TX with her Plastic Ono Band for SXSW I immediately jumped at this opportunity to see something that billions would not. Not only did Ono perform, but she also was a keynote speaker for Austin's music/film festival that generated more than one million people to town. Ms. Ono has had numerous consecutive dance singles ranking at #1 on the top of the Billboard Dance Chart. She also was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Mojo magazine. Aside from her achievements she was also an inspiration to many songs from The Beatles, such as Abbey Road's "Because" that was written due to Lennon watching Yoko play Beethoven's "Moonlight backwards. http://igotrabiesatthezoo.blogspot.c...-yoko-ono.html |
