PS: Sorry, I wrote this before I read Nancy's post. I mean no disrespect to Nancy. It's interesting to see two totally different viewpoints, though. I believe as she does that the 'poster' is actually not a conservative...but the fact that it shines an unflattering (okay..try *ignorant*) light on conservatives does not bother me in the least. If I were a Republican (sorry, but that was hard to type)...and especially if I honestly believed ...not just spewing arrogant hype...I can see where this would have been hurtful and offensive. I wouldn't have liked to read posts by a conservative pretending to be a liberal endorsing sexual freedom for pedophyles....or such nonsense. See what I mean? Well, yeah, what an introduction for myself. A wee tad bit more intense than I'd intended.

Hey Kelly, interesting theory you and Nancy are positing....personally, I think it is a textbook case of muckraking, but not by a "misguided liberal"....no, most liberals I know wouldnt even be able to TYPE that crapola rose.gypsy spewed out. Every cliche attitude that the right wing extremists harbor (or the so called "moral majority") was thrown out there specifically to stir up trouble and get a reaction.

my personal opinion is that this person believes what *she* is saying and apparently is familiar with many of the regulars such that she criticizes some websites or takes personal potshots. This was deliberate, it was malicious and it smells.

I guess most of you will be happy to know I stepped down. I guess since 1997 I have been on here, but no, I know no one. I have felt very out of the loop with the Ledge and with the world really and I have no business being here.

I usually looked on here and posted alot, as you can see, I do post, I don't have like 50 posts, I have way over 2000. So I didn't come on here every " 6 months" and wag a finger.

I was actually defending the people on here who are gay. I am not gay but I HATE gay bashing. I came on here because "flaming liberals' in ittself looked horribly wrong and it UPSET me. People cared enough to email me privately, which is what usually happens with EACH post I have closed ( and since 2000 I think I have closed like 5 or 6).

But the morale here has totally knocked me down and I am stepping down.

I agree that the viewpoints of this poster are those of many right wingers....but I really feel if you read all the posts, you'll see why I believe this person is not one of them. I live smack dab in the middle of red small town, red state, middle America. I know the real thing and honestly, the real thing is a lot more frightening that that thing was. This was obvious goading. If the person were for real, they'd have tried harder to "save" everyone from their evils and would have had LOTS more to say! Don't you think it was odd that this person was a 'church secretary'...and even named the church? And mentioned 'wifely duties? All blatant buttons. So many more, but those were off the top of my head. But hey, I have 5 kids, so I guess I do enjoy me some 'wifely duties'! (Of course since I'm not a conservative, my hubby enjoys them too!)

Actually, I don't particularly care for 'radical' viewpoints on *either* side. In fact, I used to joke that the only thing that could turn me Republican was a left-wing radical! I know they serve their purpose, and middle of the road people like me tend to piss people off on both sides, but the fact remains that people like me are raising open minded, respectful children; responsible, with a good sense of community spirit. There is no place for 'radical' in my life and I wouldn't want it even if there were. So we middle of the road-ers have our place...and I think it's as important as those of you who are out there changing the world hands on.

I wish I knew what to say here. Though I've been lurking periodically for a very long time, I don't recognize the undercurrent of this situation. I feel compassion for you and the decision you chose to make. I know it couldn't have been easy...and I also know you intended the best. I'm sorry for your emotional pain, and I hope it eases for you.
