Did you see the new car commercial that uses Holiday Road in it? I was listening to Gloria Estefan on Howard Stern a few years ago. Some muffin company in Spain paid over $200,000 to use one of her songs in their TV commercial.
That was in Spain. I bet Lindsey made even more for Holiday Road in that commercial. He will make 20x more just from the commercial than all the downloads.

You are correct about the Twizzlers commercial. Here is the Infiniti commercial I was talking about. Pretty clever with Christy Brinkley in this commercial.
Lindsey got big bucks for use of both commercials. Funny how Holiday Road never even cracked the top 40 but he has made more money off it today then if it went to #1 in 1983.

Clever? It's little more than a reenactment of the vacation movie scene...But it put more $$$ in Lindsey's ( KB's ) bank account...

Not sure about CM and didn't she sell the copyrights to her songs when she left FM so does she receive anything for the dancing horse thing.

We know that Stevie was paid in the high 6 figures by Budweiser for Landslide...




And she made Millions for the Dixie Chicks cover of Landslide...



Yes Stevie got paid a lot but it also benefits the rest of the band because I'm sure some of the people also purchased the original and after hearing the FM version bought a few FM/solo records...

Recording rights differ from publishing rights. FM makes money from use of FM songs (that they recorded) as a whole. They get money from the use of Everywhere and Don't Stop, if it's the song that they recorded and not someone else's cover.

Also, yes you still get money even if you sell the publishing rights. Michael Jackson bought the publishing rights to Beatles songs (and Paul McCartney owns the rights to Buddy Holly songs). That does not mean that John and Paul don't also earn money from the use of their songs. I believe the publisher gets 50% and the writers still divide 50%. Christine makes money when her songs earn royalties.
