but still THEY"RE the MOST CRUEL..." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- she deserved a standing ovation for this song !!!! (but instead - many have criticized....) imagine the anxiety of performing your MOST iconic LIVE PERFORMANCE (besides 70's rhiannon) ~ and revered song....21 years after you LAST performed it.....KNOWING how high the "bar" was set ???? (in her mind and in the fans minds) without any "help"....... i have new found respect for her....it was a BOLD & GENEROUS move....i think it was a special GIFT from HER to US (like storms, sara, BC & SS were before....)...KNOWING how much we've longed to hear it ~ and how LOOOOONNNNGGG we've waited......... and the "waiting" just made us want "it" more.... we all need to be thankful they're still "out there"-doing what they do...cuz none of them "have to"...and we need to appreciate them for "where they are" at THIS POINT/TIME in their lives.... STILL amazing ~ after ALL THESE YEARS "long may she reign...."

It's almost as if Lindsey is too afraid/respectful of Stevie to no longer rock out on guitar in her songs. Rhiannon, Sisters and Gypsy were once songs where he just went mental onstage, trying to upstage her I suppose. It worked, gave the band an edge on stage that has been missing ever since. Obviously they're still a good live band, but things just sound a tad too polished nowadays.

I like it...it's reworked a lot how I thought it would be. More subtle, but still spooky and I really liked Stevie's "aged" voice - it fits very well with the tone of the song. It does suffer from the Rhiannon syndrome...it isn't Stevie's voice that makes the song anti-climatic vs. the old days - it's the arrangement and mostly the lack of Lindsey's blistering guitar presence. It could be improved...it was weird without the guitar solos and did feel rushed at the end. I guess this goes along with it's place in the set...first half of the show vs. the show stopping finale of the encore (yes I know Songbird closed the shows afterward) that it was in 1982.
As for Lindsey not singing the one line, this isn't new - they've done it like this before. I can't remember if it's that '78 Baton Rouge version or one of the '79 versions, but Lindsey didn't always sing that "some call her sisters of the moon..." I can see this hopefully getting even better the more comfortable the band gets with it. I do not see Stevie dropping it. Stevie's "game time decision" song will likely continue to be Silver Springs. I just played the MP3. (Thank you to the original provider for that.) I really loved it. I guess she's no longer dark at the top of the stairs. She's now black at the top of the stairs? I'm glad the audience showed their love afterwards. Her vocals were really good and I like her new way of singing this. Loved the witchy sounding background vocals from Lori and Sharon. The only thing this song lacks is Lindsey's loud guitar parts. I can't imagine why she would want that left out other than for people to hear her vocal more clearly.

  Thank you Gypsy-Sara! This is a jewel too because it's a nice closeup.  I absolutely LOVE Sisters Of The Moon!  I have mixed feelings here. Gotta listen to this a few more times but I do agree with the comments about not having the edge and that is what is absent, the edge. Just my morning musings here.....are they able to supply the edge that Sisters Of The Moon needs? It's been a long time, three decades since they have played it live. And, face it, we're all getting older. It needs to, "grow" on me. Going back to listen. The band seems tighter, there is something there that hasn't been in years. Hmmm....wonder whats changed? I really LOVED it!
 So chilling to hear that opening riff once again. Stevie voice handles the song just fine. Sure, as we expected, she's not shredding the chorus, holding it longer & singing it higher like she did on the "Tusk" & "Mirage" tours, because obviously if she did (even if she could) she'd shred her vocal chords and blow out her voice - which is exactly what she did numerous times during "Rhiannon" & SOTM live performances in the 70's through early 80's, causing show cancellations and vocal inconsistencies.Remember this show is a not a sprint, it's a marathon. Stevie is very aware what NOT to do to keep her voice in shape, this is a pretty long show (which is probably the reason this song has been shortened) and basically a grueling North American tour schedule (at their age) through July 6th. Also, I think that based on SOTM's placement in the setlist, I believe it was probably an intentional move on the bands part to not only shorten the 2013 "live" version of this fan favorite, and not make it the barn burner-esque song of yore, hence Lindsey's less intense & subdued guitar solo & shortening the song. I suspect between opening night jitters and being the first show, that as the tour rolls along Stevies performance's of SOTM will only get better. I don't expect this song to get dropped at all! AND "Without You" sounds amazing - If the live version sounds this amazing, I can only imagine what the studio version sounds like. And Stevies definitely singing as high as she did on the early 70's demo! WoW Btw. I love the "Sisters" vamping in the chorus - it's new and sounds eerie. It reminds me how she sounds & sings "Honey" on "Trouble In Shangri-la" I can't wait to hear this live in person!! Last edited by Christopher; 04-05-2013 at 10:57 AM..

She did a Great job! I'd be ever So Sad to NOT hear Sisters again at Jazz Fest. Please don't mislead our Ms. Nicks into not performing it again, ever. For most of us, She IS our icon and really in the long-run can do no wrong. You don't want to break all of our hearts that are counting on hearing Sisters this year?, do you Karen?

Meh.
I suppose it's OK. I can't say that I love it, or loath it. It's just OK. The musical arrangement could have been much tighter; maybe it was better in person.

I give Stevie big kudos for dusting off "Sisters" after all these years, but I'm on the fence about this performance. I guess, for me, this 2013 version really lays bare how limited Stevie's vocal range has become. I realize that she's not 30 years old anymore, and I did not expect a repeat of the 1982 performance, but to me her voice on this sounds really scratchy and, as she has become accustomed to doing as of late, she's just yelling the high parts. There is very little nuance to her voice. I don't at all get a sense of the darkness or mystery that some of you are picking up on.
Again, I'm extremely glad and grateful that at 65 Stevie is still out there doing what she's doing; it just saddens me that years of abuse and constant touring have ripped away certain qualities from her voice that I used to love. And I'll say it again: I really think her vocal coach has done more harm than good. I'll be curious to see how long she keeps this in the set. It's a hard song to sing, and she has a lot of nights left.
