I don't particularly like the music and when I know he had spectacular GOS leftovers that (still) deserve to see the light of day, it was hard for me to accept this inferior filler track.

Yet, I don't detest Juniper and when Lindsey explained it, it took me back to my own childhood, my neighborhood and riding bikes down Marlowe and Hubbell and I know exactly what he means, especially when you've lost a sibling and they are a part of all of those memories.

Before I heard Lindsey's interpretation, the song actually reminded me of an X-Files episode, in which Mulder finally comes to some kind of peace over his missing sister by letting himself believe that while she was being abused, she was rescued and taken away to a heavenly place by some spiritual "Starlight" creatures. She disappeared from this earth and they took her to another dimension where children are free from pain and play happily all day (groan).
Well, FDJ always reminded me of that.

My sisters and my brothers all dead and gone.
Did you know that wishing don't make it so?
All the children flying down Juniper.
All going where children go.
All the children flying down Juniper,
let us go.

But that reminds me of our other thread and the way love goes, "it goes, it goes."

The "let us go" in Juniper can have both a pedestrian meaning, let children be children, carefree. But there's a higher one too. Let go of your memories. Don't live in the past. Release the childhood hopes and the things you cling to that are gone. Move on.

Wow, yes! I really need to give LB way more credit as a lyricist because he has been impressing me for years.

I appreciate your explanation Michele. It isn't my favorite on the album, but it fits for me for some reason. Now, I agree with you 100% about some of the songs I would LOVE to hear officially released, and I guess I wouldn't mind if he would put those on my dream box set he's supposed to be working on for release in the sometime near future, after all this is done.

Where did Lindsey explain the meaning?

In one of his many album promotion interviews. I don't have that one accessible right now. Among other things, he said Juniper was a street in his boyhood neighborhood in Northern California and they used to ride their bikes down that street.
