This single won't bring in new fans. It's geared towards everyone who has already bought the album. It's not radio friendly and won't increase sales which used to be the reason to release a single. |

This song is nice but I'm very surprised its the second single. Not sure it will get much airplay.

They want to play a new Stevie song like they want hemorrhoids. They're the ones who have put her out to pasture. Stevie's marketing team did a TV blizz with Stevie that got the album to #6. Now she is no longer doing tv appearances and none of the songs have a presence on radio. Of course the album is going to go down. TISL did twice as good because of the Dance and because the record sales were twice as much back then. This album is twice or three times better than TISL but Stevie has been releagated to Has-been status. That's radio and Stevie's fault. |

I think it's a good choice. Sure, it doesn't scream "radio friendly!" but it was the critics' overwhelming favorite--it can clearly pull people in. The title track, on the other hand, is catchier but unlikely to make any non-fans fall in love.

It amazes me that they chose the worst song on the album for a single.

) Yes, IYD has songs that are too esoteric for radio, but still make great album tracks. Reprise may have decided on FWIW as a single because of all the accolades & mentions this song received from critics , as a stand-out track, when IYD was reviewed. I think it's a brave & refreshing choice. What do they have to lose at this point . If and when there is a 3rd radio release, they may be holding onto "Moonlight" till the fall when the next Twilight movie starts getting traction. |

I adore this song but it's the wrong choice for a single. In Your Dreams, Annabel Lee or Moonlight would have been far better choices. Annabel Lee is so freaking obvious it's not even funny. Oh well. We'll see what happens.

What IS super radio friendly of Stevie's, let's be honest? Right now the top 40 radio is dominated by dance/pop and rap/hiphop. That's not Stevie. Of all of Stevie's songs on the album, I think it's the best bet for a single because it's really accesible/relatable, has a timeless sound, and it could also find a place to crossover to country radio. It's not like this type of song is unheard of on radio, either, Plain White T's acousticy songs get played all the time. Like the OP mentioned, Stevie can perform it consistently.

So happy they chose this.
I agree radio won't break this song, but I think it could catch on in a more under-the-radar kind of way. WB should try to get it placed in a movie or two, on a couple TV shows, etc. I could see people finding out about it gradually that way... and then it could cross over to mainstream.

"its not going to get any airplay on adult contemporary stations" You don't know that. "if 'secret love' was a dud" It wasn't. It was a Top 20 hit. "the albums fall from 6 to 89 in 2 weeks" IYD took 6 weeks to drop to 87 "this is sabotage to the selling of the album" And why would anyone want to sabotage it? I don't have any idea whether the song will do well or not....we can all only speculate on that. But you have to get your facts straight first (about "Secret Love" and IYD chart performance) before making assertions based on totally erroneous assumptions. |

On other hand "In Your Dreams" is definitely catchy and uptempo but it doesn't really stay with you as a song like so many of the other tracks on IYD do. |

I love the song but I'm disappointed it's not Moonlight (the best song on the CD).

its the critics favorite only because it's Landslidey. That's the only reason. This song musically is too straightforward. Nice deep lyrics, but musically the weakest off the album.
