Of course, the live "Stand Back" WAS released as part of The Chain box set, so. . . . I guess it could count now as a Mac song.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Like I said JMO but I would rather have a lesser known Fleetwood Mac song than "Standback". If they play "Standback" will I be up dancing? Hell to the yes! Would I rather they did "Tango in the Night"? Definitely!
Please stop. I think I would die.

Haha. Ok how about "Miranda" or "Thrown Down"? I guess my point is if you have all this material that you could do why are you doing solo stuff? I wouldn't be upset if they did "Standback" I would just rather it be a Mac song instead.

Stevie needs at least one song in her set that is that fast paced all out rocking numbers. And really none of her Fleetwood Mac songs fill that void (Dreams, Sara, Gypsy, GDW, Landslide, Beautiful Child, Silver Springs) Rhiannon SHOULD be rocking, lord knows it rocked harder then anything in the 70's but the sad reality is it just doensn;t anymore. Stevie's solo set is filled with rocking songs (Fall From Grace, Stand Back, Edge of 17, I Need To Know, Rock and Roll, Face the Promise etc.) but she just doesn't have an arsenal of fast paced Fleetwood Mac songs. Even if she brought back Sisters of the Moon, it rocks hard, but it has that slow build-up and isn't fast paced from beginning to end like Stand Back. So unless they do Rhiannon completely different complete with the guitar solo, Stand Back almost has to be there for Stevie.
Well said. I happen to love the energy it brings to every show I have ever been to.

The friends that I have brought to solo and FM shows over the years, who are not serious fans, all seem to know SB and recognize it and really get into it more than any other song.

It is such a signature Stevie song that at this point to leave it out would be the equivalent of her leaving out Dreams in her solo set. Aint gonna happen, ever.

Tim

I tend to think that if Lindsey had toured, we would have seen several different songs: Family Man, Big Love, Eyes of the World, and certainly a much better representation of the Tusk album than what was actually played (I believe only Brown Eyes?). It would have been completely different than what was actually played, that's for sure.

Edit: As for Stand Back, I am mixed. I guess it's sort of become a Mac staple at this point and the performance is usually good. I just would rather have one of Stevie's FM contributions over something solo. I wouldn't really mind if they did about 25-30 songs and each showcased one or two solo songs as well as one or two Buckingham Nicks songs and even one to two pre-1975 Mac songs. If they do play SB, I really hope the 2 minute drum intro is gone though. Not a fan.

I agree, well said. SB just brings that level of energy up a few notches.
Plus since she does not have to carry a whole show, Stevie's energy level should be higher to carry off some of these songs like SB or even SOTM which is one of those slow burn songs but then can kick into high gear if so desired. I mean she proved she can do it with FFG and Rock and Roll, so there should be no reason not to have a couple of really rocking songs in the set.

Edit: I know this thread is mostly about SB, but am really wondering how they will treat Rhiannon in this upcoming set. Will they use the screen art or will she wear her top hat/scarf? Will the guitar be more rocking? Will they get rid of the piano intro and just rip right into the song? The same could be said for GDW. Solo is so much different than with FM. I so want Stevie and Lindsey to interact at the ending. But I digress... SB fits into an FM set without it being too intrusive. And as mentioned earlier though, if they remove SB and replace it with a kick ass version of SOTM, then I can most definitely live with that.

I would hope they put the longer guitar part back in Rhiannon. One move that I would like them to steal from Stevie's show is the way the drapery fell when the fast part of Rhiannon started, that was quite a rollicking effect. It sort of reminded me of the Proud Mary build you see so many performers use. They start off slow and then kick into high gear. The contrast creates instant energy.

Also, something I'd like them to steal from Tom Petty's show is using the strobe light on Stevie. The way it creates that stop/start movement. Speed. Almost spastic. It made it seem like Stevie was moving a lot, when she actually wasn't. I loved that. I don't know what song they could use it on, but it excited Petty's audience.

Petty's show also made me wish FM had a call and answer song, where the audience alternated singing part of the chorus with him (i.e. "learning to fly is the hardest part.") With FM, the audience sings along with Landslide, but having a call and answer interactive was a fresh spin for me. Michele

Yes, yes, yes! I so agree. It's sung so differently, it's almost a completely different song now.
