And - on the piano demo - she clearly says "I cast a spell on you - you won't forget me"

Well, the reason I ask this is because-was it just the visual of stevie pointing her finger and tossing lindsey dirty looks that captured the essence of the song and made it so popular, or would it had been just as successful without the video and made rumours even more popular. I know there is really no way to answer this, but just your opinion.

also, I almost posted this in stevie forum, but I knew everyone would say "of course!!! " teehee..and I wanted a more unbiased approach. I personally thought It probably would have since it has more to it than "I don't want to know" but just for sh*ts and giggles
I dont think it would've been any more of a hit than it HAD already been. The mega success of that album is about as big as any artist could hope to achieve. I dont think the song itself would've been a radio "hit"...besides, it was available as a B-side back then. At any rate, its BACK on the CD version of Rumours, the way it should have been.

Are you sure it's not: "Time casts a spell on you..." ??

It is at the end and I am pretty sure she says "I" and not "time" - again, this is the piano demo. I will post it when I get home.

I totally get what everyone is saying, but YES!! There COULD have been more sales. I want Thriller OUT OF THERE!! ha ha...I don't want just number one of the 70's. I want all time.

No, just the first few shows, as far as I know anyway. I believe we have 2 audio version in circulation, but no video. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think Silver Springs had the potential to go Top 10 had it been released as a formal A-side single. 20/20 hindsight, of course. Rumours just had so much momentum behind it, and Mac was the "in" group at the time, so they could have released anything, even the somber "Oh Daddy," and radio would have eaten it up.

Mucho grassy a$$ !!!!!!!!

She says it at 4:10

Also, at that point she takes her angry belting voice immedicately to an almost whistful remorse at the pain she just conjured.

What a fukcing woman!

Hate that song Every time I listen to Rumours, I skip "Oh Daddy" and think that should have been Silver Springs.

I totally agree... I think it had the potential to hit the top actually.

This has probably been discussed before, but it seems like Silver Springs could have fit on the original LP had they trimmed a bit off the Oh Daddy and Gold Dust Woman outros. Those songs run a little long anyway. Rumours runs at about 39 minutes, but another LP like Mirage clocks in at around 42 minutes. Or was this a case of technology improving over the years?
