I had heard the audio before, but it is much more upsetting to see it matched with the video.

This is terrible, just like the videos of the people jumping to their deaths from the towers.

I also saw the Berg decapitation video, and that was one of the worst things I have EVER seen. It did make me sick to my stomach for several hours. It was terrifying . . . the screaming . . .

Exclamation I would watch this...

but I'll pass.

I have heard & seen enough 911 footage to know the end result...Listening to someones last moments in this existence is hard, But watching 'em fall/jump to their end is impossible for me.

Kinda of related to 911-But every NYC firefighter (About 6 of the NYC finest) who arrived in OKC immediately after the Murrah Building attack, To offer help in search/rescue of the victims here, died on 9-1-1.

To me, the question of whether particular footage is treated (& viewed) as sensationalism is a related but distinct debate. I'm not yet sure where I stand on this particular footage (& I don't care to watch it again--I watched it just the once). Nevertheless, I am going to stick to my guns. A recording of those events allows us to re-experience the tragedy--even to turn away. It has immense value in preserving the reality, which has been nearly lost amid the political nattering & posturing of the past five years. Should students of American history study the horror of the Civil War--the details of the battles, the casualty numbers, the blood-stained physical artifacts of the soldiers, the photographs of the fields of dead--or should they just study the flowery, jingoistic speeches of the politicians in Washington?

I agree. This possibility always exists, but using this sorry fact about human nature to subsume the details of historical events is ideological defacement, in my opinion.

as horrible as that video is, Im glad I saw it. time's passage has a way of making people complacent. We should NEVER forget, precisely because it IS horrible. IMO, there isnt a Hell HOT enough for the evil people that did this.
Karma that bad would take a millenium to atone for.

It's not so much the video that's chilling (desensitization by media overexposure) but the screaming at the end "Oh God No!!" Up until that point I was doing okay, then it felt like someone punched me in the stomach and a deep sense of dread. I never want to know if that's the same thing I would scream or if I would even be able to scream.

Most people's last moments are going to be at least pretty unpleasant. I've been there for a few, will probably be around for a few more. The thing I keep in mind is that in a forty or fifty year life you have probably thirty or fortynine and three quarters decent to good times versus a few minutes, hours, weeks of very bad time, so to dwell on the worst of times when it is not happening yet or already happened is out of proportion. It is a very very ugly thing like a huge kick in the stomach which leaves you feeling hollowed out to be a witness to in any way, and that you fight against obviously, but part of the fight is to go on living besides that or to give what good there is meaning, to make things better somehow.

Just some of my own reflections, maybe they don't make much sense or offer any comfort. Something good should come from even very bad things.

Let's quit talking about it(at least I am). It really bothers me remembering it.
Why on earth did you search for it?

Excellent point David- I just watched it and I knew 10 seconds into starting to warch it -that it wasn't going to have a happy ending.
Everyone seems to be asking..."Why post something like this??"
Besides making the whole day come alive again, and unfortunately for Mr. Cosgrove... and/or I think you can substitute over 3000 names here....
on September 11th. This was reality.
Thank you for reminding me that we, in the US are playing on a
different field, in a different "game" , than we ever had the misfortune to share before.
Sadly, as others have stated-I think it was our horrible introduction into the World outside our borders.
It may not be pleasant to remember this day.
However it would be a nightmare and a disgrace to all who perished...to forget

NEVER FORGET 09/11 or the day's events in NY and DC

Curiousity killed the cat! I honestly don't know why I looked for it, other than morbid curiousity. But I was sick the rest of the day, after watching it, so I'm SURE I'll never look for anything like that EVER again!

Well interstingly enough (ok well interesting to me) I also looked for that Nick Berg video when I heard about it. I pressed play - watched maybe a second then changed my mind - I am SO glad I did...!

David, I wish you hadn't posted this, or at least I wish I had read ahead to know what I was in for. I don't need the hear the desperate plea and final scream from a man in his final moments just to ensure I never forget 9-11. I got it already. This was extremely distasteful.

God. I watched this, and even knowing what was going to happen, I still feel sick.
