Ann has also stated that she hasn't had any other relationships since Mike Fisher dumped her back in 1979-80 (?). All of her "schoolgirl poetry" songs from the mid-70's are all about him ("Magic Man", "Crazy on You", "Love Alive", "How Deep It Goes", "Here Song", etc., etc., etc.).

His brother (was it Steve Fisher?) was a total dork too. Did anyone see the Heart BTM? He was so incredibly in lust with Nancy Wilson it was insane! He had his eye on her from the time she joined the band and then mercilessly pursued her for years until she finally caved and got together with him. Then he threw a guitar at her backstage because she broke up with him and hooked up with the drummer. I dunno, he kind of has a stalkeresque quality to him that gives me the creeps!
Roger Fisher is/was a great guitarist, though. The whole Wilson/Fisher thing was really the meat of Heart's best material. After that breakup, they did Private Audition and Passionworks, which was the beginning of the end, and then it was pretty much all over for Ann and Nancy's original materials (with a few exceptions here and there).

Oh yeah, Roger Fisher, that's it. Yeah, great stuff in the 70's. Glad to see they're back to that sound with the new album. They've had a revolving door of bandmates haven't they? I think the "meat" of Heart is Ann and Nancy. There is no Heart without those two (obviously) but I see what you mean by the Fisher/Wilson guitar combo, but the songwriting, for me, all starts with the sisters. Have you heard The Road Home? What an intimate gem of an album...Ann and Nancy can sing circles around each other, it's like a mind meld!

I have all of Heart's albums. The Road Home is fantastic, however, there is only one new song on it (the title track)- everything else on that album is either old material or a cover.

Jupiter's Darling is okay. Not great and certainly not a return to form in terms of their 70's material. I consider it more of a fifth incarnation for them.

Roger Fisher played a large part in a lot of their 70's material. Sue Ennis tried to take over his role and IMO was a weak replacement. Just look at all the horrible material from Private Audition (blech). That's their worst album, ever.

Yeah, I was referring to it in terms of showcasing the connectedness of Ann and Nancy as collaborators, co-songwriters, and vocal soul mates---something that has nothing to do with their revolving door of bandmates, and something that is uniquely their own that gives Heart, imo, it's signature sound and feel .

And I think Jupiter's Darling is much closer to their 70's material/sound than anything else they've done in the last 20 years, and that's saying something. I am totally impressed by this album, I think the Wilson's have done very well "on their own" (so to speak), with their own vision.

I really like some of the Sue Ennis collaborations from the 70's, but yes, Private Audition sucks.

Anyone else going to Heart at the Mountain Winery on Sept. 6th? Got my tix this morning. I'm going to this show instead of Konocti.

So you want to stay up late past your bedtime instead of the 6:45 show at Konocti

Yeah, I'll just take a long nap that afternoon.

I hope the set list is extended by the time they get to California and includes some JD songs.

Konocti? Cool! That's where I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert in 1994 & again in 1995. It's hotter than hell there during the summer & fall.

Ann and Nancy can put on a KILLER show! AND, they pace things FAST. They ran through something like 23 songs in an hour and a half. I loved that concert!
