That's what I thought, but this confused me: "Last year, 98.5% of the seals killed were two months of age or younger." - I didn't think they lost their white coats under 2 months of age. Their intention was to draw attention to it and that's what they did. At least people now know whats going on and can do some research into it themselves if they like. I know 100's of 1000's saw Larry King and have at least been awokened to it. P.E.I, Newfoundland, who cares where they were broadcasting from, the point is that thousands of baby seals are being killed inhumanly for nothing!

Ohh I agree with you ! Believe me I have gotten into some heated debates about it..so much so that I have been told yankee why don;t you go home?? But the point I'm trying to make is ..that because there were so many errors..that here in the East Coast from NB-to Newfounland..the people who are doing this horrendous business are more or less ,just harping on that.
I just wish they would of gotten all there facts straight first.! and yes it brought attention to many via Larry King...but ..believe me it also brought unwanted bad publicity also..I have listened in on conversations all around the Maritimes since this and because of this ,its turned into a bashing instead ..I pray that the canadian goverment will listen to the people for once! and stop this slaughter ..it breaks my heart! I have written to the WWF which I am a member asking them to take up the cause also..

and that's exactly why i posted the information i did, too. it's not because i support the seal hunt - good god! i think it's brutal, inhumane, disgusting. i can't even watch the footage of it. i can't be near it. but i do not condone what the mccartneys did - they simply upped the level of misinformation out there. and that does not help the cause. the reason i posted the stuff about the white coats is because those cute little fuzzy babies are the ones most people believe are being slaughtered. and sadly, many people who condemn the hunt simply condemn it because they are cute. i am not for a second suggesting that that is what people here are doing - but it IS why many people do. i wanted to point out that those cute little fuzzy guys (who the mccartneys were posing with in their pathetic photo op) are already protected. it's the (according to some people) not so cute grey coated old pups who are being killed still as brutally and inhumanely - and who need the protection. i'm glad teresa posted the picture of the grey coat - they are vulnerable and being clubbed to death - and thuogh they may not be as fuzzy and cute as the white coats (i actually tihnk they ARE just as cute) they need protection, too.
