I'm working in the soup kitchen from 11:30-1:00pm, TRYING not to eat anything, because we all go to my mother-in-law's for Thanksgiving dinner sometime in the afternoon.

Curtis, last Christmas we had to take my mom to the ER on Christmas day (evening, actually) and I will never forget how kind those nurses were. They all had on Santa hats and I just couldn't stop thinking about how they gave up a part of their holiday to be there. I'll bet you're an awesome nurse.

Yes. I work there every Thursday night- we serve dinner to the homeless from 5:30-6pm every week. We put out a HUGE spread on the holidays- it's great.

I've spent a Christmas in the ER also... not the place you want to be on Christmas.

I started my volunteer work (Hospice and the soup kitchen) about a year and a half ago because I wanted to be able to get into graduate school. Now, I can't imagine my life without it. I have met so many great people and learned a lot. I can totally see myself doing this for many years. And you are a very nice person David- it shows in the way you post messages.

Thank you. I really appriciate that compliment. I look at it like this, I could hate the world and be a miserable SOB, or I could try and live my llife to the fullest. I choose the latter, because we're here for such a short time, live it.....

Unhappy Just...

driving to my Mother's gravesite and sit/think how FUBAR this year has been (She is buried out in a small countryside cemetary, So noone will be bothering me).

It's actually a miracle that Deb will have this day off, Being that she is only one of two nurses working the overnight 7PM-7AM shift.

I no longer care for holidays...That ended on March 21,2005

Thanks for reminding me, I have to tell mom I won't visit till Xmas.
Uh, I think I'm going to rewrite papers, and I think this guy I slept with last summer is coming to visit me. We may go camping, but we may not cause I only have four days off. I'll probably make stuffing, b/c that's my favorite part of the dinner.
I love staying home during Thanksgiving break and chilling out, catching up on stuff, cozying around my house....Oh, and Paula? Can you send me some of that pumpkin cheesecake? Thx.
