There is protest against SUV's, here's one link I could google. I remember this from a Dutch newsshow not long ago. They've got some interesting arguments.

I actually travel a lot and have a beagle, a lab and a cat who travel with me, so I need the room. No, I don't cross rocky terrain often, and I'm not trying to show off my wealth or parade around in it. I work very hard and I bought this for myself to enjoy because I am in my car a lot. "stupidly fashionable" is such a retarded statement when you don't know me or how I live or why I even bought the car and I don't appreciate it. Freakin' ask me, don't just assume. But leave it to you to be pissy and bitch about something that someone is happy about. Why couldn't you have worded that post in a different way than to be such a smartass?

I don't drive very much and have had thoughts of getting rid of my car and just using public transportation. I'd save a lot of money and I don't think I'd miss it. I guess that would make me a big nerd!

OH, thank you! I know I'm a big nerd.
That car of yours looks like a monstruous toy to me, I bet that's exactly what it is

Hm. I might have to post a picture of my crappy bike when I get a chance.

I would really enjoy not having to have a car. I could walk to the store - it's about a half mile. It's a nice little jaunt. Unfortunately, my job involves driving driving and more driving. On average I spend 1-3 hours a day in my vehicle. I like to be up off the ground and I have to haul crap around sometimes. Thus the current truck. But damn, I want that G500.

When I was living in San Francisco, I did not have a car for 8 years. It was the most exilerating feeling ever. I walked, biked, taxied and used public transportation. SF really lends itself nicely to not having a car. Oh the freedom of it all.

But now I'm in LA and let me tell you all right here, right now, that LA people will drive across the street to get something. I moved to a very "urban" area of LA...and that's saying a lot. So when I moved here I didn't buy a car for 4-5 months and walked and biked. I still do that...but in LA, sometimes you just need to have a car. Public transportation here is pretty ****ty.
