I feel the same way about Indiana, but, I'm getting bored and restless. I really would go west. I fell in love with Northern California when I was out there. I've never been to the east coast, though. Will have to try and make it out there soon.

Very lovely pictures, guys!
I guess we all feel the place we live/love is the most beautiful. Here are pictures of 'home' to me. My ancestors came from Scotland and settled in the mountains and coves of North Carolina, Tennessee, and southeastern Kentucky. The Great Smokies, Blue Ridge, Natahala, etc. Legend says that the Scots settled here because the area reminded them so much of their beloved Scottish Highlands. To my family, nothing compares to this beauty.

This last picture is the Walker Sisters Cabin. The Walker Sisters were 5 self sufficient women who lived here during the first part of the 20th century. They were also my great-great aunts. They lived with no electricity or running water, grew everything they ate, and made their own clothing and furniture. Newspaper from the 40's still covers the inside walls of the cabin. Real pioneer women, especially for the times they lived in. When the Smoky Mountains were in the midst of becoming a national park, the sisters refused to sell their land and move. Finally, after the park dedication in 1936, president Roosevelt paid a secret visit to them in a last ditch effort to convice them. 6 months later, they signed on the dotted line, with the stipulation that they could live out there lives in their family home. The last sister passed away in the 1960's.

Argh!!! My hometown. And my first job!!! Quit spying on me!!!!
Brown County's okay, it's Nashville that sucks!!! There's NO such thing as privacy there, period. Everybody knows the low down on everyone in the place. If you don't mind your entire community up your ass, it's a great place to live! Me, personally, I couldn't get out of there fast enough!!!!!
And again, Brown County State Park saddle barn was my first job, at 13! Shoveling horse**** out of the stalls, and running the pony rides. My uncle works there a couple days a week now, just for something to do in his retirement.

Once you've been bitten in the ass, HARD, by a pony, you'll never feel the same way about them, again. Apparently, she liked biting 13 yo booty... Surely she's dead by now.....

for the stroll down mammary lane.

Are you still going to be saying that you would never leave New England when this winter comes? I want to hear you say that when the freezing cold and snow arrive.

Beautiful pics, Paula! I used to visit that part of the world far more often when I lived in Montreal... Quebec's eastern Townships, down through Vermont, also absolutely stunning this time of year.

And Happy Anniversary!! Your hubby's a hottie.

Talking Great pictures Paula

As usual...your photos are stunning. You have a talent girlie
Here in NH, autumn has arrived late this year-lots of rain and wind, but the leaves held on and didn't really change color until this week,
Now it it just beautiful....peaceful and quiet as the leaves gather on the ground.
Like most, it is my fav. time of year.
Stews and Roasts and sitting by the fireplace each night- Very cozy and warm. Also, I enjoy this time because I know it is just going to get colder and whiter Winters, I love them too.
New England really does have it all and I am blessed to be from here and staying here.

Thanks again for the pictures- and Happy Anniversary !!

That is great news to hear. I am going to NH and VT and Western MA leaving this Wednesday until Sunday. I hope to get some nice foliage pics.
We are not going too far north just a bit over the MA border.
Do you happen to know where the "Stonehenge" in NH is located?

The photos are beautiful and the place is really breathtaking. It reminds to me the region where I was born.

It's off Route #28 in Salem, New Hampshire
I have never been but it is suppossed to be similar to the famous "Stonehedge"...lots of rocks that work with the sun and equinox supposedly
So I can't review it for you. I am not sure if it would be worth a trip or not....but hopefully it is a little more info for you Pattie.

Be SURE to see the Kangamangus Highway around North Conway, even if the leaves are gone it is a beautiful (33 I think, mile) ride through the White Mountains National Forest.
Stunning!!
Have fun on your trip!!
