I'd thought about an all-black one with a white pickup & tailpiece. Rick never responded to my post at the Renaissance message board when I asked him if he made white or cream colored pickups.

The model 1 is quite a small bodied guitar anyway, it is a very nice instrument. I've played 3 Model 1's (well, more if you kind of count Lindsey's from Earls Court and Manchester that I strummed), and Ian Morton, the UK distributor gave me the choice of two instruments when I purchased mine.

They have a great sound and the Model 1 is a very unique instrument but I tend to prefer guitars built by John Suhr personally because the feel, playability and sound suit my style more..

If you live in the States, I would recommend dealing with Rick personally. He can sort you out for sure..

It's interesting how the finish looks different depending on the lighting & camera angle...same guitar, but the finish looks completely different.
Yeah, but same is your finish: look at the diffent color of your skin!
The angle of the stagephoto makes you bigger definately, but still, you with a turner looks like Lindsey with a ukelele!

By the way, you look incredible

One thing to note about the Turner is Lindsey does not use it too often in the studio. Strats and Teles seem to be his electrics of choice when recording. I am sure their are examples of where he used the Turner in studio, but he puts down most of the electric parts with his collection of Fenders.

True! And, as on "Oh Diane", an "f-hole" Gretch.

That's the beauty of the M1. It can recreate for stage the tonality of a wide variety of guitars without having to change guitars every song (ala Tom Petty & Mike Campbell).

You can blame that on the red stage lights.

Well, yeah, I guess I'm definitely a bit bigger than Jeremy Spencer, that's for sure!

Thanks...my wife thinks so, too. She's the one who worked her magic on Rick Turner to have my M1 made (when, at the time, Rick wasn't even going to start a Model 1 waiting list for at least a year, much less MAKE them)...she talked him into making that one specially for me (without my knowledge! It was a wedding present!) It is pretty much a one-of-a-kind...personally signed by Rick.

Yeah I didnt mean you were HUGE Chili...you know as in fat...you're just a big guy. That guitar is dwarfed by your...stature. Better now? Didn't want to insinuate that you're a fatso. Which youre not.

I thought you played fingerstyle like Lindsey CHILI...? Looks like you were playing with a pick in the photos.

I can play either way; it really depends on the material...I prefer a pick though. It took me a while to get the hang of using a pick on the Turner. Like I was committing some cardinal sin by using one. But, then I thought, "Hey, this is MY guitar, not Lindsey's, I'll play it how I want to"; as if there was some "Law Of The Turner" that I HAD to change 30 years of how I played because of the TYPE of guitar I was playing? No way.

Well maybe there IS a bit of an understated law about playing the Turners with no pick. Being that I play without a pick it wouldnt be that hard for me. I actually have a hard time playing with a pick, and it feels weird to me.

Another great thing about this guitar: it's perfect for playing with our without a pick, you can choose

I heard at one point that Rick was going to release the Turner's in more of a mass-produced style that was more affordable...like $1200 or something like that. Personally I think I'll hold out for the day when I gave 4 G's and get a custom model.

Hey CHILI...what type of amp do you use with your Turner? Are you sticking with a Boogie like Lindsey? The tone I'm trying to achieve is the sound he had on "The Chain" from The Dance. That, and I'm So Afraid.

And wasn't that in cooperation with samick ?

Dear GAWD...I hope not. Samick makes average stuff, at best.
