Hmmm...then I'll probably like it. I've always like Juliette's voice, I bet she's great.

Diss, how's her band?

TIGHT. I've seen them live and they sound precisely like they do on the record. Patty from Hole was in her band at the beginning, but she left and I was a little disappointed, but the new drummer is ace. You can hear some full-length songs at http://www.julietteandthelicks.com .

I plug them endlessly because I want them to stay around for a looooooong time. They're what rock should be. If you want me to send you some songs, let me know.

Red face

Just like I thought, BATMAN BEGINS was a really good movie.

but, I still prefer the 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns. Something about Michael Keaton.

They are totally different takes on the character really...this director took a much more literal approach to the character and it was less comic booky. I think Tim Burton had the better way of looking at it.

Why has Christian Bale suddenly got an American accent?

He was over here last week doing publicity for Batman Begins and talking in a heavy American accent, using phrases such as "stick a fork in my ass".

I know he's spent a lot of time over in the US, but up until two years ago, when he was doing publicity for Reign Of Fire, he still had his strong British accent (he's actually Welsh).

Anyway, it's really bugging me.

Can someone's accent really change like that so quickly?

Well, if Madonna can affect a bad English accent....

Unhappy I know!!!

I hate it too, and I'm a Texan. LOL I have seen some interviews of him lately and I HATE his accent. I've been watching that Jerry Hall show called Kept on VH1 and she has a Texan/British accent and it's way cool, I want one!

Anyways...word.

I saw it Saturday night at, like, 11pm and almost fell asleep in the theater (not because of the movie ) and thought it was the BEST Batman movie. Bale was ****ing superb. He's the first one to actually breathe life into Bruce Wayne AND Batman, none of the other actors had the ability to do so, imo. Just a fantastic movie. Even Katie Holmes didn't bother me, but I don't think she's a bad actress anyway. Just has ****ty taste in men.

All Hail the Bale.

Katie didn't bother me as much as I thought she would, since I've *always* hated her.

Christian was fantastic. I loved when the uniform was on and he'd use the super-special deep Batman voice. I saw it in one of the cheapest, nastiest, smelliest, most uncomfortable theaters in all of the city of Chicago and still managed to not get taken out of the movie at all.

My only quibble- Nolan really doesn't know how to direct those fight sequences. They were muddy, confusing, and dizzying. (Or was it just me that was dizzy? I WAS half-smashed after monster amounts of ouzo with my saganaki)

Wink

Mmm..I'd have to disagree. Michael Keaton was the only one who displayed the right pain of the character. That still lingering pain over the death of his parents was still evident in the scene in the batcave, when bruce wayne sits alone at his desk, and realizes that Jack Napier (joker) killed his parents. The look on Keaton's face says it all. Batman NEVER gets over his parents death. It is the primary motivation behind what he does.

Batman almost has a morbid sense of justice. I didn't get that feeling from this new Batman. It was not dark, nor was it campy. His drive in this new movie was to "clean up" Gotham...which is a motivation of Batman, but not his sole motivation. It's to make criminals suffer, like he suffered from the loss of his parents.

I totally agree and that end sequence with the train was such a let down!
Spider-Man 2 did the train thing so much better. Still pretty good, don't ya think? I bet Part 2 will be amazing.

Heard on the radio today they are thinking about redoing the whole Batman series with Bale and the rest of the cast....minus Katie....They said the studio wants a "stronger" actress.

They're supposedly already prepping for part two. I'd love to see them make more because I am head over heels for the new one. Loved the whole cast, and Katie Holmes did not bother me (I loved her in Pieces of April, despite other people not liking her one bit as an actress). I just hope Bale doesn't become a huge superstar and stop making the kind of movies he has been over the years.
