Anyone ever read Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt? I loved that book so much. I still read it now anytime I'm sick and feeling awful. And don't go by the lame-o movie of a few years ago. The book is far better.

Also -

Frances the Badger (Bread and Jam for Frances; Bedtime for Frances)
Tell Me a Mitzi (anyone know this one??)
Amelia Bedelia (thought it was hilarious!)
B is for Betsy - and that whole series
Black Stallion - and that whole series
Henry Huggins - and that whole series
Paddington Bear - and that whole series
All the Gordon Kormans
All the Beverley Clearys
All the Laura Ingalls Wilders

I wanna be a kid again.

Yes, I loved that book too! Did you ever read Rasco and the Rats of Nimh? I think it was the follow-up.

I was obsessed with books about animals, so that's all I would read. Does anyone remember those books that were about all the animals in the forest? One was called Lightfoot the Deer - they were written a long, long time ago. But there were alot of them, Paddy the Beaver, Bobby the Racoon. lol. Anyway I loved those. I also was obsessed with Nancy Drew, the real old ones, written in the 1950s or whatever. And the Babysitter's Club.

I also loved
Island of the Blue Dolphins
The Big Friendly Giant (THE BFG)
Tucker's Countryside
The Trumpet of the Swan - where the trumpeter swan loses his voice so he uses a stolen trumpet. lol.

I loved it too! And the movie is so awful. It doesn't do the book justice at all, which is so typical.

She's a librarian at a middle school and the kids always hate it whenever any of the reading or English teachers decide to read it with them. And then they hate the movie even more when they have to watch it. Okay, I'll quit hating on children's books.

Forgot to address this in the last post. I think there were two or three that came after the first one. I never read any of them. Did you? I think I lost interest for the most part because I discovered that they weren't about the exact same characters. But they might be good!

I have an older sister who was (and is) the bigest bookworm ever... she had about a billion Babysitter's Club, SVH/SVU, Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, as well as Judy Blume and all the teenage girly books. So I read my share of all of those when I had nothing else left to read. I actually liked the Nancy Drew ones quite a lot, much better than the Hardy Boys. The 'Super Specials' where they joined up were great.

I read each Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton a hundred times. Favourites with them were Matilda and The Wishing Chair.

The Narnia books were so-so ... but I really enjoyed The Last Battle. I loved that movie, Shadowlands.

My favourite children's books were the Redwall series and the Duncton series, and anything by the Australian authors Emily Roddha and Robin Klein. These women, and all young adult authors, are geniuses!

As for picture books, did anyone else read Grug? Those books were good but so depressing! Even for his birthday party, it was just him! haha

I just thought of another one- The Stinky Cheese Man

Also, when I was a kid I would read Mary Higgins Clark books. For adult books, they're very tame. Unlike A.C. Andrews. Tisk Tisk, Diss.

I still read M.H.Clark.

And I, too, read the VC Andrews books when I was a kid - around 11 or 12 maybe? Scandelous!

Yeah, it's always a good read. I have yet to be disappointed in one of her books.

Loves Music is a good one. I remember really liking The Cradle Will Fall too.

I still have to go get her newest release.

The Cradle Will Fall is a really good one.

I also liked All Around The Town. I've always been into psychology, so I loved the split personalities in that one.

I haven't bought her new one yet either. Most of my money has gone to La Nicks tickets.

hmm, I just remembering liking it when I was young. Who knows, it could be total trash, the last time I read it was probably when I was 10. I just remember I liked it because the wolf (or wild dog) becomes her friend. I've never seen the movie.

Arrow Just thought of something...

The Richard Scary (sp?) books. They were basically picture books that told you what various items were, but I freakin' LOVED them. I think I still have one or two somewhere.

YES!!!!! I LOVED THOSE!!! My mom used to buy them for me...

AND that reminds me.....does anyone remember the Dill Pickle Gang or bus or something like that?

They traveled around in a pickle bus - or maybe it was just a green bus - and I think they were animals - I seem to remember a hippo - though my memories are a bit fuzzy.....

Guilty! I can remember reading those when I was around 12 or 13. I loved them! Not exactly 'kid's books', but they were a great read.
