I may not eat there but I certainly would love to go see it. I have to make a list of stuff i've been told to go and check out.

I was told to save up for food and drink for Vegas--my friend said saying you can eat in Vegas inexpensively? is a lie. If you go for the convience of the strip, you're going to pay more. She told me every morning at The Flamingo they paid 20 some dollars for the breakfast. From their hotel room, there was a sign that said "Five Dollar all you can eat breakfast" with pancakes on the sign. They tried to find it more than once but never could

I plan on doing a little research but I am a huge $40 A Day/Rachael Ray nerd and she did a show in Vegas.

Most is off the strip but i'm not sure how far away or if it's in walking distance for us.

Yeah... a lot of stuff is ridiculously expensive just because it can be. They know you don't want to venture too far offstrip and will shell out the extra cash to avoid doing so. There are some good deals to be found, though. You can definitely find breakfast for under $20. The Flamingo is whack, apparently . I'll be going out for breakfast, if that's the case.

There's actually quite a bit in walking distance. There are also cabs on every corner and it's pretty cheap to get around that way if you ride with a couple friends. Plus, if y'all ever want to go out to eat together or something, we'll have a car .

Oh, they're totally going to sell it to you because they know the average tourist is going to want convenience over savings. They've made the trip to Vegas to gamble and spend money--mind as well spend it on food, too. If there's anything i've learned from watching Food TV, it's to check for discounts with the hotel and to get local suggestions from the people working there. Plus, I do believe we have a few locals of our own from The Ledge that i'm sure can suggest something decent I'm down for whatever. (*waits for Kelly to interject with a "YOU NEVER EAT" *) I'm sure even though I can be slightly picky (as Pattie apparently also is), it's looking like Vegas can please everyones taste buds (including us pains in the ass). It looks like if not dinner, I can get some breakfast at Le Village Buffet in Paris (croissant's with a little bit of butter and strawberry jam are my friend Tiff!). Apparently it's $10. That's the price you'd pay here for a decent breakfast.

Um, I'm not flying a few thousand miles to sit in The Flamingo so you bet we're going out to eat, etc. It's not everyday I find myself out west (wait, it's never). < / long ramble>

Breakfast is great over at the Cannery, where Mirage gigged last October. We could all meet over there!

I like pancakes with syrup, cheese omelets, eggs Benedict, hash browns (crispy on the outside & soft on the inside) & a plate of real corned beef hash.

I chase it down with a hot chocolate or a vodka screwball.

Yum! Now, I am hungry. That sounds like something that I would order except I like scrambled eggs. Coffee is going to be a must for me especially in the AM.

Here is a website that may or may not be of help. My head started swimming with all the information I found.

Girl..I am so there for breakfast with ya. (um, even though you will probably just 'look' at that croissant) Breakfast is one of my most favorite meals. Personally, I hate eating late at night, it stays on my ass forever, but I can nibble and have a drink or whatever after the show. Plus, I want to jam in as much sight seeing as we can into our three days, I have never been west either. I am really glad we have Paula and Tiff to give us pointers. At least we will be able to figure out what is the best for us to see and how to go about getting there. I would feel like a babe in the woods without some friends who are familiar with Vegas. Kandace lived there too!

It is possible to eat cheap in Vegas, but you have to look. Those $1.99 buffets are:

1) Hard to find - they're more in downtown Vegas or smaller gambling towns like Laughlin (which is a very funny/scary/tacky/weird place.)

2) Scary when you do find them.

Buffets can run anywhere from $9.95 up to $24.95, depending on where you go & what they have. MGM's breakfast buffet is very good, I think it's close to $20 though. Patty's right, there is a Denny's right near Caesars but it's a normal sized Denny's, so it's packed all the time. There's also a busy McD's around there, if someone wants a dollar menu quick fix.

As far as going off Strip - it's not a bad thing, but we should definitely go after the show rather than before. God forbid we run late, or there's an accident or something. I would be so pissed.

There was a brew pub on the Strip that served burgers & stuff, I can't think of the name right now. It was farther down, near the Riviera/Circus Circus. I'll try to find out if it's still there. As time goes on, we'll figure out a place & time. We may have to start another thread to post when & where everyone can meet - Diss will kill us!

EDIT: I also am a huge fan of breakfast!

I just took a quick look & that's a really good site. I narrowed the search down a bit & that made it slightly easier to retain all the info, lol. Sounds like the Spice Market Buffet @ Aladdin Tiff mentioned got very good marks.

Oh, and Riss? Rachel Ray kick ass! LOVE her! I have a couple of her books, the great thing is that you really can make those meals in 30 mintues.

I love Paula Dean too, mainly for watching purposes. I don't think I could bring myself to toss in a whole stick of butter into something like she does. But damn, it looks good.

EDIT: Here's the review for the Flamingo. I'm glad we picked it.

http://www.cheapotravel.com/vegas/ve...l_id=1026#food

Pink & orange lights, 80's music, quick cocktail service, flamingo statues...it's like my own private paradise!
And I now really want to go to their annex casino O'Shea's, where the "younger, cheaper, louder, dirtier crowd" hangs out. Yup, that's me!

I absolutely love her. I think all of her shows are great and you're right, her 30 minute meals really do work (and they taste pretty damn good too).

Paula Dean....MmmMMmm...I loooove southern cooking. I'm dying to go to Savannah to eat at her restaurant

Several people I know have stayed at the Flamingo. They all say the same thing...it isn't terribly extravagent but the pool is amazing, everyone is very helpful and it's a nice place to stay. Plus, I hear if you have a room on the one side of the hotel, you'll have a perfect view of the Bellagio fountains Oh, and our hotel has live penguins and flamingos walking around...you can't get any more appropriate than that

Oh, and I also found out, you can check in to the hotel at the airport. They have a desk inside

I will so eat a croissant (or ten). Usually I skip breakfast and head straight for lunch later on but oddly enough, when i'm away and on vacation, I end up eating breakfast. Two Jersey girls in Vegas...heaven help everyone

David, we'll let you make a decision or two
