The Ledge has been around since 1997 I know. That's when I found it and started posting. The MTV special was coming up and we were all so excited.

What makes this the official FM site is the plain fact that anyone out there who needs absolutely any FM information goes here first. (In fact, the portal page should say "The unofficially official site")

Happy 10th, Penguin!
Well I think The Penguin and the Legacy should share the unofficial official title.

The Penguin rocks so much, especially the Q and A's. Happy 10th. So is The Ledge also 10, was it here from the very beginning.

Yeah, I remember that someone even posted some 'fake' tour dates, too. That was when I was really naive about the internet and believed just about anything.

I remember the chats too on Sundays. They would alternate between the Nicksfix as it is now known and The Penguin each week. I would have one heck of a time getting on to anything with my primative WebTV.

I'm traveling but can access the net too. Happy 10th birthday to the Penguin from me too. It has been a long, windy road so far. I have a version of the site saved from when it was a few months old-- it looks VERY different than it does right now and was a fraction of its current size. I'll post it soon for comparison.

The Ledge, for the record, was started on June 13, 1997.

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and help over the past 10 years to keep it alive and growing. Special thanks to Lis for putting up with me when I was obsessed with the site and putting all of my time into it. Thanks to her for the inspiration too and for the hard work that *she* has done over the years to make it so special and accurate. Love ya babe!

I was gullible about lots of stuff....Marty was more cynical; he didn't even believe it was really John that wrote us in '95 until we actually met him in '97 LOL. Marty was all "ask him this, ask him that, see if he knows about this yada yada!" ....and it was then that i knew I needed to handle all correspondence w/ the poor man LOL. I remember my initial response to him was rather suspicious, like "I don't know if we should assume you are actually Fleetwood Mac's John McVie, but we will assume you're a fan..' blah blah, and I gave him more info about the site. And so he then wrote back in his dry way, "This really is McVie!" and for some reason that's when I really believed it. I still shake my head in amazement even now. Can't even describe the sensation of absorbing that the people in FM might actually look at our site....

oh my goodness yes, that was 100 years ago, wasn't it, not 10? I feel so old, it just feels like a lifetime ago...

Hi Hon! We were writing at the same time (something that can't happen at home.) You know the site wouldn't exist without you; it would still all be only in my head. xoxo

Yeah, "Pretty darn good" was part of his first critique of the site. Could my eyes have fallen upon sweeter words?! I used to ask him little things every once in awhile...not much, as it is my eternal fear that I will come across as a pain in the *ss. The world has him to thank for now knowing Chris' middle name, it's common knowledge now but back then it was nowhere to be found, and believe me I had spent hours of my life looking. (He didn't know Lindsey's though, but I suppose that's forgivable, as he was never married to Lindsey.... )

But in any case, what a love he was/is to write us in the first place.

-Lis

I think of the Legacy as the officially official site since they denied my registration to join. That's just like a real official site! Kinda cool!

Patti, you used to be such a sweet goofball back then. Remember Jan? You two were the Chat Sisters.

Remember Corey Gutilla? "Landslide" or "Slide" And "Vaughn" aka "Tusk"?

Plus lots of good old melodrama each week. . . .

And John Kinney used to get drunk & put wine bottles in his crotch! And we'd laugh & laugh & fall over & sing bird songs & swap photos of mammatus "mammary" clouds & then hop on the trolley to head downtown for a Swizzle Stik.

Default Congrats...

on a great 10 years. I have been using this site since the Fall of 1997 and have enjoyed it. I miss the trading post, I got some neat stuff there and even sent a few folks RRHoF tees the year FM was inducted. Here's a toast to 10 more years.

Terri

Default Congrats!!

Well done on the first 10 years...

It won't be long, just three short years from now, when The Ledge becomes a teenager and we get the odd tantrum, mood swing and wobbler... Hang on, that happens on a daily basis anyway doesn't it?

I look forward to the next 10 years of debates and chat and hopefully through to the release of Lindsey's next solo album hopefully before the 20th anniversary....

Exclamation Hee!!

Hey, MFM, who said the quote in your sig? Great one, BTW.

Oh no, not THE TEEN YEARS!! EGADS!! Voices changing, hormones raging, mood swings, hating the 'rents...nope, I'll be away from the Ledge during those years.
