That is quite unfortunate! That's a great birthday to share!

Any time there is a Stevie/Mac event on TV, a new album, press clipping, etc., I get several phone calls and e-mails telling me about it. Of course, I always know about it weeks (if not months in advance), but I always am gracious and say, "Thanks for telling me. I appreciate it!!!"

I actually STOPPED talking about Stevie/Mac altogether many years ago to non-fans. People would introduce me like this: "John, this is Chuck. He *really* likes Stevie Nicks. Don't get him started..."

Also, there was this rather unfortunate incident at an Austin gay bar, where I was introduced to this totally cute guy (in said fashion above). He said, "Oh, you like Stevie Nicks??? Me too!" I said I did, but that I went over and above the norm and didn't want to bore him. He said, "Oh, me too. I even collect bootlegs." And that was all it took. We started comparing notes, and wound up in a Stevie-pissing-contest about who had the more extensive collection that lasted at least 15 minutes. When we finally snapped out of it, we realized that a lot of people were staring at us like we were freaks, including the friend I was with who was completely dumbfounded. My friend said something to the extent that he had never seen me in such a frenzied state and that it WASN'T pretty. And to top it off, the cute guy got mad at me and wouldn't let me buy him a drink because my collection was bigger than his, and I knew about demos that he had never heard!!!

You're right, i'm just not having any luck, EVAH! Though, now, my friend always tells me "oh, i heard (insert dreams, gypsy, rhiannon, the chain) and i thought about you. It was really cosmic" But she's AFA, and is very partial to R&B, etc. she gets a weird, pained look on her face whenever Stevie comes on...

I used to have all my MP3's of F-mac in my dorm room. People were nice and insisted it didn't bother them, but then I realized they were humoring me... You basically have to tailor the songs you choose to specific crowds (that's what's great about the band!). If it's a younger, rowdier crowd, stick to Lindsey's rock-out "Tusk" type stuff and Christine's classic rock style (stuff off the White album/Rumours works well). If it's a more mellow one, mix in some Stevie/Christine rock (their "Tusk" contributions). Just balance it out. I've found that the Live in Boston CD is great, because it showcases Lindsey and also has Stevie's classics in there to back em up for a good mix. The Dance is a little too long for a party, unless it's mixed in with other albums.

I've found it really tough to play Stevie's REALLY emotional stuff or Lindsey's solo stuff around people without fore-warning them of his style :-) So if you're going down that road, just be careful not to drown people, hehehe. Wait it out before you bust out "Bwana" and "Play in the Rain" on the poor souls.

What bar was this? If there are more like him there, maybe that's where I need to meet men.

Law and Order is one of my all time favorite albums! I don't think I've ever tried to make anyone else listen to it though. I love it, front to back! It's definitely a "solo" album for me.....

I turned two of my roommates from "just knowing who FM was" to semi-fans. In fact, I've attended concerts with both of them.

I gave my boyfriend The Very Best Of, but I just can't get him into them. He likes Christine the best. According to him, Stevie's voice sounds like a vibrator wrapped in wax paper.
