It was the summer of '78, I was 14 and babysitting for my sister & her husband & of course the minute they leave I turn on the stereo, nice & loud & notice this album cover sitting there, it was "Rumours" of course & the album was on the turntable & I thought "what's this"? So I sat on the floor against these massive 4 foot high speakers (remember those?), listening to this very unique voice, staring or should I say studying the album sleeve thinking who is this "BEAUTIFUL" girl? (It was Stevie of course) and for some reason "Second Hand News" stands out (maybe because it was the first song on the album, or maybe it was "won't you lay me down in the tall grass and let me do my stuff" part, hehe, I was only 14). I also remember hearing "Dreams" on the radio all that summer and thinking, ooooohhhhhh, this is Fleetwood Mac!

DREAMS--I remember being about 15 and I bought the WHOLE Rumours LP just for the song Dreams. I played Dreams about 1000 times (that voice) on my Mother’s “console stereo” I never even listen to a single other song on the album!

When I got my first apartment when I was 19, right after the move, all my old albums turned up and I popped on Rumours—and let it play. I couldn’t believe that all those songs on there I already knew, and the ones I didn’t, I loved.

But the REAL-DEAL had to be the “Gypsy” video, that’s when I went bonkers for Stevie Nicks. It was like a 10-year musical-Stevie-binge.

I bought everything I could get my hands on. I bought the Worthington photos, the (piano) music books—everything. I even bought a piano and taught myself how to play Stevie’s songs. It was hand-to-mouth back then (no internet/eBay).

My first concert… (mid-80’s?), Wild Heart Tour—Philadelphia. I swear I have never seen a better concert in my life. Stevie came out W-I-L-D, in a red shawl, and just started twirling like a million times (I was in the 3rd row

) I almost had a Wild-Heart Attack!

I think it's really cool how so many of us first discovered FM with one song (before there were videos!), then tied them all together later on. I remember hearing Rhiannon when I was 5 or 6 and loving it! I also remember my mom playing some of Rumours on the ol' turntable. I loved "Don't Stop." Then I remember an advertisement on the radio for a concert playing over and over again with the beat of "Tusk" going on and on in the background--a song I also loved. But, like some of you guys, I didn't realize they were all members of the same band until the Mirage/MTV era, when I first saw Hold Me and was swept away by Lindsey! I think that's why it remains my fav FM song. And so the rest is history. And, dammit, I wish my mom was as cool as I am...I've already taken my daughter to 2 shows with me! (she's 7)

BTW, Amber, did you steal my cat? I have a Siamese kitten that looks just like the one in your sig!

haha, yes, i did steal your cat, and you can have him back!!! Okay, i'm sending him right now. He says "tell MM1 I'm sorry i was such a pain in the ass!!!"

I think it's cool, too, how we all pieced it together.
I never put the final pieces together until about 1993!
First there was 3 yr. old me singing GDW...
Then there was 8 year old me falling in love with Stand Back, trying to record it off the radio, never being able to, and never finding out the artist.
Then there was 12-13 year old me, falling in love with Seven Wonders - and hearing Little Lies on the radio every five minutes, not knowing they were the same band!

Then there's me in highschool, happening upon the Bella Donna concert on PBS, running to get my tape recorder for Stand Back yelling "that's it!!! that's the lady!! that's the song!!!Omigod, i finally found it!!!!" and recording EO17, too.
Then there's me playing that in the tape player in the truck all the time, still not knowing she was the GDW and Seven Wonders chick. But at last i had found it.
Then there's my friend getting rid of her tapes when i was 19, and giving me Tango, when i spotted Seven Wonders and yelled "Omigod!!!! there it is!!!!!"
Then there's me buying Timespace. Then Street Angel. Then the Green Album. that was probably 94-95. The rest is me rarely listening to anything else.

And there you have it.
By the way, that whole time, I never saw any videos...

Let the Saga continue.
