Well, duh.

It is my interpretation... nothing more. I just happen to think that the lyrics to "Sisters" are just as poignant as the lyrics to "Save Me A Place," when you look beyond the surface, and that the songs represent two points of view on the same types of problems.

Looking at the lyrics, I think she's even telling us that she bought into "the image" just as much as anyone else had ("she was dark at the top of the stairs... and she called to me...."), but its appeal was limiting and constraining.

I think it's deeper than people give it credit for.
What makes it all even spookier in my estimation is that she wrote about her 1979 self in 1975. How could she possibly have known about the gauzy romanticism of her later image back when she was still the jeans-clad fifth wheel in Fleetwood Mac? How did she know that, within a year or two, her dressing room backstage would be filled with groupies & helpers to the point of emotional suffocation -- when Fleetwood Mac were still carting themselves around in station wagons?

Maybe she was writing about Stevie Nicks in Janis Joplin's tragic predicament. Maybe it all tied in somehow with her vocal exorcisms for "Rhiannon" onstage. There was something about being on the verge of fame that was an even heavier trip for Stevie than the fame itself when it finally came.

It's a remarkable song in many ways (although I don't really see this musical similarity between it & "Rhiannon"). I'd also like to know how that reference to Inge came about. Did she read the play? Did she watch the Robert Preston movie & just swipe the title because she liked the sound of it?

I think she knew what she would be, knew the kind of attention she wanted and was capable of getting, and probably had already had a taste of it, big time. I don't think Stevie was in any way accidentally so famous and so fabulous...

Even if you haven't voted before do it now! Or we may be seeing yet another Lindsey casualty.
I knew it, Sharon. That's why I began to act as if I'm in the middle of puberty. This game has nothing to do with songquality. We could have started a Tuskcontest wherein every song under 4.00 minutes have no rights.
