Bush Late for Vatican Meeting With Pope
8 minutes ago Add White House - AP to My Yahoo!

By SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer

ROME - President Bush (news - web sites) arrived 15 minutes late for his meeting with Pope John Paul (news - web sites) II — unusual for a president who makes no secret of his impatience when others keep him waiting.

It was a rare breach of protocol in Vatican (news - web sites) City, too, and raised eyebrows in the papal delegation.

Bush's Erratic Behavior Worries White House Aides
By DOUG THOMPSON
Publisher, Capitol Hill Blue
Jun 4, 2004, 06:15

http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artma...ter_4636.shtml

President George W. Bush’s increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader’s state of mind.

In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as “enemies of the state.”

Worried White House aides paint a portrait of a man on the edge, increasingly wary of those who disagree with him and paranoid of a public that no longer trusts his policies in Iraq or at home.

The President's abrupt dismissal of CIA Directory George Tenet Wednesday night is, aides say, an example of how he works.

"Tenet wanted to quit last year but the President got his back up and wouldn't hear of it," says an aide. "That would have been the opportune time to make a change, not in the middle of an election campaign but when the director challenged the President during the meeting Wednesday, the President cut him off by saying 'that's it George. I cannot abide disloyalty. I want your resignation and I want it now."

Makes me wonder if Dubya will be the first US President to commit suicide.

Damn that's cold! First of all he arrives late and then he disses the Pope by not calling him the wrong title--wasn't exactly subtle getting his message across was he? The great thing about this is that it was so hard to understand what the Pope was saying (the man has got to be on his last legs) that I'm secretly hoping he told Bush to **** Off!

Yea, it was hard to understand HH. The word on the street is the next HH will be from Central or South America as that RCC is trying to hold onto that area. Maybe it will be Carinal Law - I mean he has a ROman Basilica now

Speaking of Bush speaking screwups:

Did anyone see the clip that David Letterman showed last night? WTF was that?! I didn't understand a word that Bush said except "potted plant". Can anyone translate or provide info on the clip (when/where)?

Did you happen to see it? I think it was the worst speaking mess up that I have ever seen, except for his "hispanically speaking" comment.
