You could possibly add in Oliver Reed there too.

Yeah, that's what a lot of his great stories are about.
I like dumb movies, too. For instance, I just enjoyed War of the Worlds.
I have to say, I haven't missed many Tom Cruise movies. *waits for hideous backlash*.

Peter O'Toole rules. Never not once enjoyed a performance.

Anjelica Houston (especially in The Dead)
Helen Mirren

I also am really liking Clive Owen in everything I've seen him in.

I used to like Daniel Craig a lot. I loved him in "Sylvia" (I thought he was a very convincing Ted Hughes, even though he didn't look like him) and in "Mother", but I 'm not very sure about the Bond thing. I am one of those who believe that Clive Owen should be Bond And I didn't like him in "Munich" so much. I think he is much better in smaller, more indie kind of films.

I'll stand with you for the upcoming wave of abuse.

I love most of his movies. He's a great "popcorn" actor. You can tune in and drop out. The only trouble is, whatever the role, you still believe its Tom Cruise. Must be the smile.

I still stand by my view he was robbed of the Best Actor Oscar for Rain Man by Hoffman. It was his best performance in terms of believing in the character.

What about BOTFOJ? I thought that was widely regarded as his best performance? Oddly, those are the two I haven't seen. Oh, wait, and Far and Away.
Yeah, he usually is like Tom Cruise, but he's smart in picking his roles to fit him. I think he is slightly underrated, though - I thought he was a bit brill in Interview With a Vampire and Collateral.

From what I've seen of filming for Casino Royale it's gonna be VERY different from all previous Bond films. Very brutal and far more realistic. Craig wouldn't commit to the role for a whole year until the script convinced him it would work.

Anybody living in the UK can see an exclusive interview from the set in Nassau on Film 2006 with Jonathan Ross this Friday night.

I think 'Born On The 4th of July' is his best work, ever.

Has anyone mentioned Catherine Keener yet? She's always great.
Agree about DC, just wrote the same thing a couple of posts above

Catherine Keener is great. And one of the most beautiful actresses. She looked better than anyone else at the Oscars, IMO

Yeah, I guess he will be different, but good-different. I think it was silly of people to bash the producers so much about it. Do you know about the website craignotbond.com??I mean they are not completely ignorant after all. they had their reasons. I preferred Clive Owen because I think he would be closer to Connery's Bond, but I tend to think it would be a sort of superficial choice, if you know what I mean.
Unfortuantely (for many reasons) I don't live in the uk

BOTFOJ. Another very good movie. Don't think he got the praise here because of the "It's Tom Cruise trying to play it serious" mentality from the press. I guess it's why he's since tended to stick to his own comfort zone. It guarantees success. I love Collateral (Am I the only one? ) and I can't wait to see Michael Mann's next epic, Miami Vice.

He's not helped himself lately. He does come across as a nut job. Since the "contract" with Nicole ended and his change in PR, things have gotten much worse for his image.

I haven't seen Keener in Capote yet, but anyhow, I am not so crazy about Weisz. I kind of liked her in the Constant Gardener, but apart from that, all of her previous films pretty much sucked (sorry for that ). I think that Keener is fabulous. Have you seen a film where she palays Ben Stiller's girlfriend who later hooks up with Nasstasja Kinski?

I really wanted Brosnan to continue. I thought Craig was a rash decision and I was pissed initially.

Then I studied his work (I believe Layer Cake convinced the Bond producers of his talent. Rent it out if you haven't seen it!)

Now I've seen some of the Casino Royale footage I think he is 100% right for the role. The work is far too physical and violent for Pierce to do for sure.

the craignotbond website is pathetic. How can you judge him without a film to judge him on?
