Newbies shoud never be shy here. Most of us are really accepting and open, so I dont see why anyone would see us as clique-y. That's all. I just love you guys!

I don't want it to be like that! I imagine that you include yourself in that category and you know that I don't want you to not speak your mind! I don't know what to do about it; my long-ass post about it probably insinuated that.

When I first started posting some thought I was gonna only make a few posts about my then new Stevie Nicks Pictures website...But yet 4 years later I am still here.

I never felt a part of a clique online, And especially here...Especially considering my political views are that of an Independent who views the Republican party (Which I was a former member of) and the Democrats as near one-and-the-same...I trust neither, And I form my own thoughts/opinions of the issues without bowing down and kissing the holy rings and the asses of either party.

Well, I do think we could be a little nicer and/or less aggressive. I think that about society as a whole, too.

But, then, my views on that are often met with eye-rolling or righteous indignation, so what do I know?

I've always found the Ledge to be a little intimidating myself, mainly for the reasons that others have mentioned. While it may not seem "cliquey" to those who have been here for ages, it's very tough for newbies to find their niche

I don't think the problem is neccessarily us not liking Repubs. or Conservatives in general - but some who have come on here, mostly trolls, are down right hateful and mean about it - and that's when we get "gang-like" I guess.

But that, as has been stated, comes down to us protecting our own, especially when the attacks get personal.

It's hard being a newbie in any situation, I think - but recently there have been quite a few new or emerging Ledgies and I think it's great! I mean we were ALL new at one point

Did I miss something? People roll their eyes at you and act indignant? I had the same reaction to that that I didn when I read Christy's post about how people were mean to her when she joined. How could someone be mean to you? And how could someone dismiss you when you express your opinions so well and so respectfully at the same time?

I'm not going to attack you, Nancy, because you have a good point. I would have never kept beating a dead horse last night, however, troll said some pretty cruel things to me. I could have been the bigger person in this instance, but it was refreshing to put this person in his/her place.

I think the ledge is very cliquey. I've been posting on the Ledge since 1998 and it was cliquey then. It will always be that way and it's really not any different from any other board out there. I don't think there's anything really wrong with that.

I really don't post much on anything other than subjects relating to FM but one time I did post that I did not like political threads in the non chit chat forums. My post was party-neutral and, yet, I was reemed for it.

I learned my lesson on that one. It wasn't so much the mean comments I received for that that bothered me, but it was the fact that nobody backed me up or replied saying that some of the comments I received were a little uncalled for. In imo, it was because people were afraid of getting flamed themselves. That's where I think the "mob" mentality comes in.

I don't think we're clique-y at all, we're a close-knit group.
Thanks, honey, and everyone who gives a **** as to so much defend me. Don't think it didn't go unnoticed.

Maybe it is. I don't spend half as much time as some on here, though, and everyone came through for me last night. I may be a vet on here, but I don't know people on here like some people know eachother on here.

Does that make since to anyone but me??

Eh, it happens. If you suggest that people try to be nicer or less aggressive, they get their feathers ruffled and feel like they're being told what to do.

But I've learned to not let opposition stop me from speaking my mind.

Many on here live near each other, or meet in person alot. So that's mainly why they seem to know each other more. I have been on here awhile and don't REALLY know alot of people on here beyond a certain point. To be honest (feather ruffling time) even when we all met in Vegas, I noticed certain "groupings" that didn't mingle as much. I think it is just human nature to go with the ones you know. So I know Exactly what you mean.

I took last nights' thread mostly as fun..we all love to argue here, well most of us anyway, what better way to vent your views than on some ignorant idiot?

I agree Chris, I'm sad at how this thread has turned so serious.
A troll came to the board to cause trouble and people either ignored him/her or kept things light, I didn't see any nasty behaviour going on.

As for the clique thing or gang mentality, of course it's present. I felt it to an extent when I first joined, but you just have to dive in and take part. God, remember Burnish? Great site but that board was one big clique that didn't want to know anyone else.

There are definitely lots of fights, arguments and discussions here, it's what keeps things lively, but I don't think anyone actively sets out to be hurtful or exclude anyone.
