I decided to check this out after seeing Lux and Hillary jump on this guy in the Lindsey forum.

It is quite obvious to me that rose.gypsy is actually a misguided liberal. It is the oldest trick in the world to make your opponent look ridiculous by embodying all of his/her stereotypes in the most insipid ways and pretending to believe them. He/she gets the added benefit of bringing out the worst in all of you. It disappoints me how easily some of you are manipulated. The quite effective strategy of thread hijack soon degenerated into people taking the opportunity to vent their worst hostilies on a straw man. Maybe he hasn't upset you, but he sure has made you all glory in acting ugly. And all I can do is laugh at the irony of it all being instigated by one of your like-minded individuals who obviously believes none of what he says.

I really don't think anyone cared too much what he/she had to say, or took any of it seriously, one way or the other.

As for making opponents look ridiculous... I think Bush, Santorum, Rove, etc., do that well enough on their own.

Oh please. I didn't do anything "ugly." I never used inappropriate language; I made lots of sarcastic remarks. It was all in fun and I'm pretty sure I didn't look bad. Had I actually gotten upset, I might have said something I would be ashamed of because I would've let my emotions take over, but I wasn't even in the mood to be upset by the drama. I'm sorry that you think you have to condescend to us.

And I wouldn't be quick to be certain that this person was a liberal. Maybe you don't, but I do encounter plenty of people in real life who would say most if not all of what that person said. Some people are really like that.

Nothing like jumping right in to the hornet's nest, huh? Hugs to all of you I already know, and warm greetings to the rest of you! I feel as though I know most of you through reading your posts for so long, and will attempt to tone down too much unreciprocated familiarity. I have lurked off and on for years, but this board has been, shall we say, somewhat frightening in the past. Trolls...or whatever...are not what frightened me. It was the hateful, mean spirited attacks that would occur. I guess I'm posting this message here right now to tell you all that I'm impressed with how well you've handled this 'heckler'. Personally, I'd be greatly surprised if this latest incarnation is truly the serious conservative nutcase he is hoping to portray. Nutcase, though indeed. I think someone may be jealous of the popular Ledge posters and it's a sad little attempt to rile them. AND to make fun of conservatives while doing so. (Not that it isn't good sport....) However, if this poster is legit, I suggest we buy prime time air space for him/her to represent the true face of the "W"orshipers.

Anyway, this has been quite enjoyable due to proper Ledgie Troll wrangling! Thanks for the entertainment.

PS: Sorry, I wrote this before I read Nancy's post. I mean no disrespect to Nancy. It's interesting to see two totally different viewpoints, though. I believe as she does that the 'poster' is actually not a conservative...but the fact that it shines an unflattering (okay..try *ignorant*) light on conservatives does not bother me in the least. If I were a Republican (sorry, but that was hard to type)...and especially if I honestly believed ...not just spewing arrogant hype...I can see where this would have been hurtful and offensive. I wouldn't have liked to read posts by a conservative pretending to be a liberal endorsing sexual freedom for pedophyles....or such nonsense. See what I mean? Well, yeah, what an introduction for myself. A wee tad bit more intense than I'd intended.

By the way, my favourite of the Fab Four is Paul, always has been. My father must have singed to his fanclub or something and we received Linda McCartney's calendars every year. She was a very good photographer, IMO.
