I'm actually happy my faves didn't win. It makes me feel like I'm part of a special club and only we know how truly fabulous they are.

Southern Rock thing...because he's the next generation of "Southern Rock" (Like Keith & Gretchen)...what is considered "Country" these days IS basically what "southern rock" was in the '70's.

"Live Like You Were Dyin'" because the song was nominated

The "Across The Universe" Tsunami benefit tune...they had somebody from every genre...he was the "country" ambassador. (Oh, I get it...You're just Beatle bashing again!!! Shame on you! Especially when it was for a good cause!)

And, why not, 2004 was Tim's year...let him have some fun AWAY from Faith for a little bit, eh? At least we didn't have to sit through HER singing.

Default Proof Green Day Sang Live?

I dunno if this is proof they sang live. It's from yahoo news.

Green Day Tests Grammy Censors

Sun Feb 13,10:34 PM ET Entertainment - AP Music

By DAVID BAUDER, Associated Press Writer

In true punk rock fashion, Green Day tested the censors at the Grammy Awards on Sunday — and the censors were ready. The Bay Area rockers, on a career high with their "American Idiot" album, added a shot of rock 'n' roll adrenaline by performing the title cut. The disc won the Grammy for best rock album.

The song includes a prominent obscenity in one of the lyrics, but the censors were plainly prepared and neatly excised the word. They couldn't delete, however, singer Billie Joe Armstrong's pointed political reference to not wanting to be part of a redneck agenda.

Green Day was energetic and confident, a band that's grown up but hasn't left its punk roots behind: witness the smoothly practiced leap and landing from the riser by drummer Tre Cool. And Armstrong was a live wire.

By the way, what's up with trios that expand to quartets onstage but pretend the other member doesn't exist? At least the camera operators didn't completely ignore the mysterious fourth member on guitar.

You wanna talk flat ? How about that AWFUL southern rock tribute ? Hideous. And there was barely a right note out of anyone's mouth in the tsunami tribute song. They butchered it.

Don't know why J-Lo was flat...I know for a fact that the song was 90% backing track. It is good to live in LA, and know people who work the show.

Clue them into Green Day's awful lip-synching. No wonder they were so "good," they weren't performing live.

Way to go, Curtie. I don't know if that proves it, but it's some good evidence.

How about Green Day? There is a debate whether their song was performed live.

I didn't ask my friend this morning about them. We were having too much fun laughing at the J-lo debacle, which looked like an out-take from a cut rate Telemundo soap opera. I will get the scoop on Green Day ASAP.

"AWFUL"??? I thought it was FANTASTIC (but, see, THAT's my demographic!) I didn't hear any sour notes...but then, I was listening/watching the guitar playing.

I did notice that they kind of butchered the LYRICS in the Tsunami tribute, but I didn't hear sour notes there, either.

I guess we weren't watching the same show.

Melissa was unbelievable - holy crap! I saw it last night & watched it again on tivo this morning. THAT's how to sing, people! I missed Bonnie, I'll have to watch it later.

I don't love Tim McGraw, don't hate him either. But I never realized before last night that he truly can't sing. Truly.

I so wanted the Southern Rock tribute to be good, and parts were. Gretchen started out way off, then seemed to get it in gear. Tim - ugh. Keith Urban was very good.

I saw Fiona Apple's video for her remake of Across the Universe a few days ago (from the Pleasantville soundtrack.) I fell in love with it. But this group thing was atrocious. Good lord.

And why, oh why, did we have to see 87 shots of Ellen & Portia? Yes, they're gay, they're a couple, we got it. What the f*ck do they have to do with the Grammy's? They got more screen time than Lance & Sheryl - and who would've thought that was possible?

Crap. I'm so annoyed that I missed that now - I had no idea Melissa would be preforming - but the fact that my sister mentioned the performance to me and also had great things to say about it says to me that it must have, in fact, been an amazing performance - my sister is usually not one to make a positive remark about Melissa

Hell, Tim's just using the extra airtime preparing for his future run as a Senator of Tennessee (He truly wants to run )

I've only read some of the winners, and I'm really really glad for Loretta Lynn, she deserved it!
