I never understood this either. One of the best songs on the album. And I know many disagree on this point, but I prefer it by far over the TISL Acetate version.

Regarding the recent Nashville recording session, I would like to think that Stevie had put down some vocals, but I’m not sure there would have been sufficient time for this. From memory, she did record the vocals for the IYD album after the instrumentation had been completed. It’s important to me that she be in good voice whenever this took/takes place because no matter how great the song is, it always stands or falls (for me) on the basis of the vocal delivery. (That was my major problem with some of her contributions to the SYW album.)
Whilst Dave did elicit some wonderful vocal performances from Stevie for IYD, there were parts of which I’m not so fond (the first verse to “Annabel Lee”; the verses and chorus of “In Your Dreams”; the rushed delivery on “Italian Summer” and to some extent, “For What It’s Worth” and the rough take on “The Ghost Is Gone”).
The fast pace of this current recording excites me in some ways, but I am concerned about Stevie's vocals holding up.

I was thinking about this today. 15 tracks in two weeks-no way she sang her best.

In fairness, I did say that in literally the next sentence. But yes, not every song on IYD was a co-write with Dave Stewart done in the way that I described.

I think a great vocal often doesn't take countless cuts to get right. And indeed, if it's taking that long, there might be something greater wrong than just a time crunch. I don't think she'll release an album where she doesn't think she sounds good at any point. And if she does, it'll probably be for reasons other than a time crunch. She's had vocally questionable moments in her studio recordings since RAL, and this album may be no different, but I don't think the time frame will be to blame for that.

I love the concept of recording 15 songs in two weeks. I don't want her to sing her best technically, I want her to sing her most real and unpolished. From her gut, from the basic emotion. Also if it's instable or slightly out of tune in moments. The live-feel. Cool.

These were my initial thoughts too. Although, given her fastidiousness for touching up even her actual live tracks, I doubt this release is going to give us anything like that. I am fairly confident that it'll sound good, though.

Agreed, but the problem these days is that Stevie thinks she always sounds ****ing brilliant! Her ego is so out of control that she believes she can sing exactly the same way she did in the 1970's. Stevie doesn't hear the lazy monotone delivery or the harsh belting that has become a mainstay of her performances these days.
Dave encouraged far superior vocals on IYD than were present on TISL and SYW, but he needs to be tougher on her with this next batch.

It has been brought up in another thread that Stevie has a 5 record contract with WB...If her contract is for 5 records to be released in 15 years it would explain her recording a solo album while FM is working on a band project if she is contracted for a 2015 solo release...

This is all very exciting, and I can't believe how quickly this all seemed to come together (unless, of course, she and Dave had this planned for a while).

I wonder now when we'll hear this new music. Stevie has a lot of stuff planned with Fleetwood Mac this fall and into early next year. I can't imagine that she'll want to hold the album until next spring, especially if the Mac has plans to release an album next spring or summer. A Nicks album and a Fleetwood Mac album in stores at the same time probably wouldn't be a good idea.

My guess is that Stevie's new disc will be released this fall and she'll promote it while on the road with Fleetwood Mac, much like she did the release of Live in Chicago. Or perhaps she'll get it out in July and spend July and August promoting it via the press.

Who knows? It's all very intriguing.
