One of them, "Illume", was inspired by 9/11, after Nicks had flown into New York the night before and found herself stranded in the stricken city. "Lindsey had tears in his eyes," she recalls. "He put his hand on my knee and said 'How do you do this?'"
That is awesome... I would have never thought that would come out of Lindsey's mouth... good for him.

And OH MY GOSH!!!

Goodbye Baby was written between '75 and '76...
Thats a good thing!!

Maria

P.S.

Thank You very much, Pip!

Stevie's abortion might have been as early as '76, that's when she started seeing Don Henley, right?

Arrow !

Are you sure that it said "Goodbye Baby" was written during that time frame?? I read that is was only talking about "Smile at You", especially b/c Stevie said it could have ended up on Rumours. "Smile at you" would fit on Rumours, but i'm not sure "Goodbye Baby" would. Anyway... I don't know.

I think her voice in the demo is clearly prior to Rumors or shortly thereafter.

I'm a little leery about getting into this particular conversation again, but... to the best of my knowledge, "Goodbye Baby" (aka "The Tower") is one of the songs in Stevie's "Rhiannon Saga."

The song's content deals with Rhiannon being punished for falling in love with (and becoming pregnant by) a mortal man.

As usual, Stevie has left the lyrics open-ended enough so that any interpretation can be placed within them... including parallels being drawn to her own life experiences.

J Stew, I always thought this song was part of the Rhiannon group as well. Back when there was talk of a Rhiannon film being made, Stevie spoke about having written a bunch of songs for it, and I always assumed this was one of them. The tower itself, and a child being taken away are major plot points in the Rhainnon legend, so it made sense to me. Of course, Stevie left it a little vague - that's one of her signatures and one of her smartest moves as a writer.
Time to dig out the old tapes and listen to the demo, methinks.
