Did Dave just stay in Stevie's bed or did they actually sleep together? This subject has always been unclear to me.

He is sort of vague. He does not say they have sex and I think Stern pressed him on this. I just read between the lines and don't think Dave is going to say that about Stevie since they are good friends and work together today. But things were so out of control during those years that its totally possible they never had sex.

Back to Tom: There are such parallels between Stevie and Tom during this era. Stevie's Rock A Little album was delayed for almost a year due to the craziness in Stevie's life. Tom's Southern Accents album was also delayed about a year due to personal problems. During the recording, Tom punched a wall and broke his hand and was not able to play guitar for a long time. During this time Tom was mixing with Dave Stewart who admitted during this time he dropped acid all the time. The Don't Come Around Here No More video has subtle hints about these acid trips. In the video, Dave is on top of the mushroom as the mad hatter at the beginning of the video.

There is a video of Stevie on Stage with Tom and Bob Dylan in Australia that used to be on youtube. Stevie looks horrible. Her voice is so raw and it looks like she bought her clothes at K mart. Can you imagine the amount of partying and drugs that were flowing at these shows Instead of preparing for her long awaited RAL release and upcoming tour, Stevie was partying it up in Australia where she was only allowed to take the stage once.

I have to admit I didn't like the song as much as Petty's other works. Maybe it's because Dave wrote it. Nothing against Dave, he seems like a nice guy but I could never bear to listen to his music, both solo and Eurythmics.

I haven't seen that video but will be sure to give it a watch, can't imagine Stevie ever not looking her best. She must have been totally out of it if that is the case.

I was there and I hate to say it but Stevie REALLY looked and sounded terrible, Bob Dylan was performing at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, when Stevie randomly just came out on stage. At first i didn't recognize her, but the voice kinda sounded familiar so i zeroed in, as i got closer you could of knocked me down with a feather .. i thought what the hell she has changed soooo much since last seeing her... Anyway im glad we all survived the good old 80's, just the way things rolled back then the never ending party's ..

Tom and Stevie's relationship has always fascinated me. I'm interested in Tom in general too, so I'm definitely going to pick up this book.

For the record, I thought it was common knowledge that Dave and Stevie slept together.

I found a video but its not the best quality. Does it bring back memories? It looks like Stevie has white cowgirl boots on with possible leg warmers. It also looks like she has a jacket on with lots of pleats. She has the biggest mom skirt on too

Yes. I never felt any vibe that they were ever romantically involved. Stevie insinuated herself into the Heart Breakers because she liked the sound of the band, and she wanted to be the female version of him, making that style of music. The connection was musical, not romantic.

Their relationship seems more like a brother and sister. I love her story of how his wife was telling Stevie that she meet Tom "at the age of seventeen." Because of her southern accent, Stevie heard it as "at the edge of seventeen". Like any true artist, Stevie took that simple thought and turned it into what has become one of her signature/classic songs.

Yeah that's it, great memories so many great artists performed at this outdoor venue during our Summer. Thousands of people were content to sit or wander around the outside of the fenced area or even climb trees for a better view.. my friend and i were outside just before Knocking on heavens doors somehow we managed to sneak in, we only stayed for a couple of songs. Yeah regarding her outfit what was she thinking oh well at least she was having a good time

Dave Stewart said in a interview that one night he & Stevie "Made love. Twice." It's kind of a cute story. He saw her *somewhere* and said "I wan to be your boyfriend!" Later that evening, he rode with her & some other ppl to her house. He sat downstairs for a rather long time while Stevie & some of her girlfriends were upstair somewhere. Everyone was pretty intoxicated. He was falling asleep (passing out?!), so he searched for a bedroom to crash in. Later he awoke to find that Stevie was there in the bedroom trying on ' Victorian dressing gowns' is how I think he put it. And his clothes were in a pile on the floor. Stevie got in bed wth him, and they had sex. Twice.
BTW I want to point out that he said he asked her if it was okay for him to tell that story. Before he told the world. That's very gentlemanly compared to Mr. Henley. And perhaps Mr. Fleetwood too?

I have a feeling that they may have hooked up, but if they did, it wasn't a regular thing.
I've wondered if his song "A Thing About You" is about Stevie.
"I'm not much on mystery/ You gotta be careful what you dream..."
A cautionary tale about using restraint; yet he is mesmerized & "hypnotized" by someone.
I'm not sure if the timeline of when the song was written fits tho.

Got my copy Friday....everyone (particularly Tom and Benmont) are pretty complimentary of Stevie. About the only one who really bashes her is Stan Lynch, who pretty much says "Stevie Nicks? Don't get me started!"

Wow I honestly don't think she looks or sounds that bad at all? I guess that's a matter of personal preference and I have a soft spot for everything RAL-Stevie.
