Maybe her mom kept her in check and grounded and gave her some much needed "hard advice".Stevie is a sailing ship and her mom was her anchor IMO.Your mom's words effect you at age 66 as they did at age 6.Any thoughts?
This thread bothers me a little. I can't help but think that this thread only exists because Stevie isn't jumping on the new Fleetwood Mac album bandwagon. It just feels like people are pointing out her flaws to get her to do it. It's feels a little sneaky and backhanded to me. No offense but Stevie hasn't really changed except that she is enjoying her solo work more.

Not to mention the fact that far less criticism would be aimed towards her if she were a man. I've stayed away from a lot of these recent album-related threads, as it's hard to to stomach a lot of the knee-jerk attacks on Stevie without any real basis in fact.

If lindsey were holding the band hostage he would be receiving just as much criticism.

Stevie Nicks is a star, and stars are, generally, by definition, narcissists. I happen to love the way she carries herself and am impressed with how she has served her own posterity and reputation in the last five years. She achieves this through repeated tv appearances, frequent touring, and by granting print and online interviews--and she often presents herself with humorous aplomb.

But like other great popular icons and legends whose best days are be behind them, Stevie's efforts seem more focused on the preservation of cultural relevance for past work as opposed to striving to create something new. In Your Dreams was a magnificent exception--and I am so happy she was able to make that album be so artistically successful. I am, however, saddened to see that she appears to be stalling progress towards a new FM studio album.

While many Ledgies would be equally critical of Lindsey, the same behavior by one band member doesn't necessarily elicit the same response as in does by another member, at least for some people. It's kind of fun to think about who would be saying what if the situation were reversed.

And I guess I'm going to go on the record one more time. If the band gets itself off the road, they can finish the freakin' album anytime they want, and Stevie can be on it or not. I don't see how anyone is a hostage, unless it's of their own making.

Stevie's the one who told the public that she offered Christine McVie $5 million to come back, because it didn't work without her. Stevie's the one who said she needed another woman in the band, nearly unleashing Sheryl Crow on all of us. Well Christine's back now, so Stevie's commitment, or lack thereof, is going to be judged based on those comments. Right now, Stevie's lack of commitment makes her look like a hypocrite or a liar.

Nope. Lindsey got his fair share of criticism in 1987 when he left the band hanging. This is NOT a gender issue at all, and it's actually somewhat offensive that it's even brought up.

Nobody here has any control over Stevie. It's not like we go to school with Stevie and taunt her in the lunch room.

Besides, in 40 years, it's taken a whole lot more than pointing out her flaws to get her to do a single thing.

Fans were hungry for an album from FM long before they went on the road. The tour, didn't postpone an album. It's what we got instead of an album. A consolation prize, in my book. One didn't supplant the other.

Besides as Stevie and her fans will tell you, she's the most prominent member of the band, so she's definitely going to be the focus of criticism, for reasons having nothing to do with her gender. The last time I looked, Christine was a woman too and she doesn't get the criticism Stevie gets. It has nothing to do with Stevie's sex, but it's always fun to yell misogyny.

Misogyny? smh.. Christine is more band oriented, that's why she doesn't get a lot of flack from the Fleetwood Mac fans. But Lindsey would be getting tarred and feathered if he held something up.

He was tarred and feathered for the, "She can't just come and go" comment.

Right, but does that nullify my statement? Whether last spring or next summer, the band can finish the album. If Stevie joins them, she joins them. If she doesn't, she doesn't. I just bristle at the notion that she holds them hostage.

As someone who believes Stevie is going to record with the band, I pose this question completely hypothetically: Did Stevie ever specifically mention recording when she was longing for Chris? The $5 million, Sheryl Crow....wasn't it all about being on stage and all the testosterone of the live show?

That is it. Stevie can do whatever the hell she pleases, but she needs to "sing the song that brought her". They're getting long in the tooth, and if she can't honor the WEALTH of life that she's been given, DUE TO FM, then F*CK her. And the horse that she rode in on. If I never read her name again, it would be too soon!!!

And that Lindsay? She's a tw*t, too.

Lindsey has been treated unfairly his entire career. He is a musical genious that has a kick me sign on his back.
