Have loved this album since the day it was released..Rooms on Fire is one of her best singles ever and Doing the Best that I can is kind of a hidden masterpiece.IMO this album's closest musical relative is IYD..although there are a couple of clunkers on each they both really hang together as an entire piece.

Holy Toledo.25 years.

Reading this thread again makes me feel like a old geezer but I remember traveling to concerts in my big 1974 Plymouth Satellite like it was yesterday.Or it was my 1977 Chevy Caprice station wagon.LOL.....

I love that red dress she's wearing on the cover photo.Great tunes too.

Stevie must have been quite surprised by this as 'Rock a Little' only reached #30 but it did eventually sell/ship over 100,000 copies. I'm still not sure why 'Rooms on fire' was her biggest hit in the UK either as songs like 'Stand Back' were real proper hit material but didn't even grace the top 100. Nevertheless, 'The Other Side of the Mirror' is a very different but fantastic album by the 'Queen of Rock' herself!!!
One of the reasons that RoF and OSOTM were big hits in the UK is because Stevie actually promoted the song and the album here. There was a TV special aired (which is where the piano version of 'Doing The Best I Can' is from), she performed on TOTP and toured here.

Bella Donna, Wild Heart and RAL had squat promotion here.
