She is the sole difference between barely breaking even and raking in millions so yes of course she is. As for a surprise maybe another never done before or not done in decades song but that 's probably about it.

I can see Lindsey doing 'Stephanie" in the acoustic part of the show before Landslide or something. I'm sure Stevie's ego flew to the roof when she found out Lindsey did it in his set.
If anything, I think they'll try and re-work Don't Let Me Down Again, seems to be the most comfortable choice that FM fans might know. I bet we'll get Crystal and Sisters on the next tour. |

Am I the only one who wants to go just to SEE them,
I honestly don't care what they sing. They could get up there and sing "There's a hole in the bottom of the sea" for 2 hours and I'd be fine. I just like to see them on stage and cry over their awesomeness

I wish I felt the same way...of course, I love Stevie and see her every chance I get...her music is on constant rotation on my cd player...i have followed her since Rumours but something happened to FM after Christine left ...Oddly enough, I was never a huge fan of Christine's contributions but the energy of the band changed when she left..maybe too much masculinity ...but a "heavy" atmosphere took over both their music and their concerts - admitedly, I blame this on Lindsey's energy. The darkness to his approach seemed to be off set by Christine's sweetness. I LOVE the cd Say You Will but as time has passed most of Lindseys music on SYW is too dark and overly produced for my taste...I enjoyed the last two Fleetwood Mac concerts Unleashed and Say You Will but nowadays it seems like they have missed opportunities...This band is legend now....they could do so much more live...lighting, production, video, etc....this is not some garage band...Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Cher, U2, The Stones, and on and on have all taken their live shows to another place. FM needs to step it up...they need to relish in their place in rock and roll history and they need to take the concert goers on a trip that matches their legend....and, please, don't make us feel like they are like the Eagles and just going through the motions for $$$ |

Well I know what you mean, but I still hope they tour next year. I mean, c'mon, the Who finally got it together and are touring so FM can do it too! And perhaps this tour will be an awesome one. You never know

For a tour that was called (and named by Stevie) "Unleashed," the 2009 tour was frightfully bland. They played it safe and it showed. "Storms" was the only real gem, and it was marred by everyone talking through it at all three shows I saw. I downloaded more enjoyable versions from YouTube than the ones I saw in person. The last dozen or so shows I've seen in person, the people around me were just jabbering away like they had not paid a lot of money to see a live show. I don't think they paid any attention to the shows. And frankly, there was a lot of dead air on the last FM tour. I agree with some of the other posters that they really need to do something to invigorate their shows. Otherwise, what's the point? (Other than Mick making some money to make alimony payments.)

I think FM need to get up with the times and embrace more of the variety of media that are out there these days-- iTunes and other online resources where you can release a single new song if you want instead of all the hassle of producing an entire album. Frankly very few people (mostly those of us who grew up with albums) buy albums; they buy individual songs. So make the most of it! It can take a lot of the burden off of finding ten or twelve songs worthy of an album and arranging and producing and recording all of them. It's sooo much easier to get music out nowadays. And you can release it yourself.
Then there's youtube, and other avenues, for getting out songs, videos, etc. There are dvds. As has been mentioned before, there is a poopload of film/video etc of this band from over the years, and Stevie at least seems to have taped the production of almost every album she's done. A lot of this stuff can be produced and edited and packaged. There's a lot of money to be made if that's the goal, and it's not in repackaging the same old stuff. It's been mentioned elsewhere that 2009 was the 30th anniversary of Tusk. Why no re-release of the documentary? With maybe some longer concert sequences, or more songs? Or with commentary? Why not spend the time finishing the damned Rhiannon movie (the zeitgeist is right with all the vampire and ghost-themed stuff out) or the ladybug and goldfish book (you can't throw a rock without hitting a celebrity who's done a children's book) There are plenty of opportunities to make money with new product. That said, I guess the flip side is they have to be making money off the same old Rumours retreads or they wouldn't keep doing it. I for one really don't need to spend any more money on reworked versions of the same old songs. |
