Australian band Architecture in Helsinki had a muriel sized poster if Lindsey over their studio whilst recording their last album! also Cut Copy have cited Tusk as an influence.

Bradford Cox of Deerhunter talks about Tusk and Lindsey in particular pretty often. He also has a side project called Atlas Sound that he released a cover of Walk a Thin Line under.

Animal Collective have also mentioned the Lindsey influence and Avey Tare was interviewed for the Tusk 33 1/3 book. The first song I ever heard by them ("Grass") I thought sounded like a cross between Lindsey and Brian Wilson with a little bit of added edge.

Maybe it's one thing in common with Lindsey that we seem to share a self deprecating nature, and refuse to settle for less than perfection in what we strive to achieve.

Just a question, though. What is a "Young Life" event? Obviously we don't have those over here, or I would know haha.
It's a religious/church meeting group for young people. Stevie has mentioned it in (very) old interviews and said it was "just this meeting that got you out of the house on Wednesday nights". Lindsey was there with his guitar and they sang California Dreaming and she thought he was "darling" and then they didn't see each other for two years.

I am still looking for the interview, however in the process I did find this singer from the indie band Best Coast state that Tusk was her all-time favorite album here

And a retrospective article about the impact of Tusk 30 years later.

I'm still looking! It could have been any of the band's named but I sort of would like to find that article.

Haha! I love this! MyLittleDemon (Brandon) and I had a chat about this very thing in another Seeds We Sow thread recently.

Architecture in Helsinki is great. You can really hear the Go Insane-era influence on their new album, it's great. I think their album was overlooked this year...

Also, Ryan Adams has named dropped the Lindsey Buckingham guitar sound for his album Rock N Roll. His old band Whiskeytown used to frequently cover Dreams, too. He was at that most recent benefit LB played at for Jud Apatow in the spring.
