You guys can say what you say, however, when I listen to the album WSS is one of the tracks I keep listening too. It builds and is a story song. I really, really like this album. It really shows that Stevie can write normal songs with no problem at all.My only complaint is that half of the songs on the album are too long.

I'm telling you. I have had to drive great distances this year and I never tire of this album. There is too much diversity. Keep discovirng things.

The words fit the music perfectly, it's excellent

And for me, the story is the weak part of WSS. The hook is in the perfectly timed delivery of a few lines like "She burned his house down." To my ears these work because they are striking and abrupt and sung confidently, not because they add to the storytelling.

I much prefer "Moonlight" to "Annabel Lee" in every possible way, but yeah, I agree that one will be the next single. If we get a new single. There are vids for both. Hell, there's one for WSS. So weird to me that they filmed all these vids & teased us with them & then released FWIW, only to film a new vid that hasn't even come out yet.

I get that song. She said what she took from the book. It's a sexual passionate thing. They were lovers to the point, when things got bad, she burn his house down. I love it.

Heck, if Carrie Underwood can take a bat to her boyfriend's headlights & carve her name into his seats, I guess it's very Stevie to burn down a house & put on a pretty dress.

I take it for granted that any song culled as a single would have a radio edit in order for it to be released - that's a given except for songs that are short enough like Secret Love. That said, and don't get me wrong I love FWIW and IYD but they are wrong choices for singles imo. IYD is nice but it is too bland or more aptly put, not grabby enough to make the masses think that is anything but her trying to sound like Tom Petty. She is built as a rocker, billed as a rocker and labels were smart to market her that way when they first decided to. Time and time again when I play the album for non-fans the songs that get noticed are Moonlight, Annabel Lee and Ghosts Are Gone. I mean there are people who like the other songs (and if I had it my way, New Orleans would be a single lol) but those are the 3 that get mentioned most as being the smart choices for singles (again assuming there would be radio edits to them). I do agree with the assertion that management or whomever chooses these singles do not have an accurate pulse on the artist climate and make haphazard or misguided choices. Lastly, whatever single(s) they decide to release - the video has to be done and ready to go the minute the song is released. It is too late for the FWIW video to do anything significant to help promote it. Again imho.

"In Your Dreams" is indeed quite radio-friendly. Because it sounds like a Tom Petty song, I think it could do well. More importantly, unlike many of her other recent rock songs, IYD has a great, solid vocal from start to finish - power, vibrato, timing. Her mature voice tends to sound either flat or strained on at least parts of almost every rock song she has done since the mid-90s. Not on this one. Additionally, the lyrics are distinct enough to be Stevie-esque without being too weird for the general public. Quite a balancing act. But yeah, when this song was dropped from the tour, I figured that meant it would not be a single. Dumb. This one and TISL, of all Stevie's solo title tracks, could have done well on radio, but her people went for a/c singles like "Every Day" and "Secret Love".As I've said before, "Moonlight" will be fine (or at least more appropriate to radio constraints) if they cut the 1st 40-some seconds out & start with the "She's lonely..." part. If they start editing songs down, I think "Wide Sargasso Sea" could do great without most of the first verse: as I've said, start with the first "Even though they were so in love..." WSS & "New Orleans" are songs I always come back to - I wish the latter could have been a single.

I totally agree with the bolded part. IYD's would be very radio friendly. It is simple yet exciting to listen to. Could also be played during radio spots promoting the concerts instead of the usual "Mac" hits. I really could see the song as an opener on this tour however Stand Back seems to be set in stone. My favorites are Moonlight, Annabel Lee and Secret Love but I think IYD's would be the most appealing to the general public.

Unhappy Don't understand it

Perhaps from her perspective, the audience wasn't responding when she sang IYD and that's why she cut it and added Landslide (a proven audience song), but it's disappointing since she wanted to tour out of pride of this album.

Moonlight. That song doesn't do much for me. I think if they marketed it towards Twilight fans, it would be a #1 hit though. LOL Why in the world are they not doing that?

I doubt there will be another single. If there is, my bet is on an edited "Moonlight." "In Your Dreams" is quite catchy and is the probably the most radio-friendly song, but it's not particularly memorable. As Stevie herself has said, she's not a real "singles" writer.

There's speculation in another thread that "In Your Dreams" was dropped from the set because of Nicks' faltering health. Its a fast song that takes a lot of energy to sing, a lot of breathing, so I could see that being the case.

I agree with Jondalar that this is truly an amazing album with numerous potential singles on it. Imagine if this album had come out at the height of Nicks' commercial popularity? I think she would have scored a multi-platinum album again.

Hopefully "For What It's Worth" will make the Billboard AC chart. I'd love to see a third single. Almost all of the remaining songs could be a third single, with the exception of "Cheaper Than Free" (it's already been promoted with the video), "Soldier's Angel" (already promoted during Memorial Day weekend), and imo "Wide Sargasso Sea". I love that song but it just doesn't really have the right structure to make it a radio single.

To my ears "New Orleans", "Everybody Loves You" and "Italian Summer" sound the most radio-ready. "In Your Dreams" is catchy for sure and its a good song but it just doesn't quite grab you like many of the other tracks do. My favorite songs are "Moonlight" and "Annabel Lee", and I'd love to hear radio edits of those tracks. "Ghosts Are Gone" and "You May Be The One" are potentially good singles, but since they are among my least favorite tracks I don't usually think of them as singles.

You said even if I left my girlfriend
Packed up my stuff
Loaded up my car
Drove down to your house
With good intentions came through your door
For what's it worth...

AND? AND? this song is stupid.

Quite the contrary. Rather than spoon-feeding us the meaning of that last line, it leaves the listener to ponder all of the implications of that unfinished thought.

Of course, I've lived this song recently, so maybe that's why I "get" what Stevie has left unsaid.

yes, her music generally does have the ability to generate an experience that allows whatever interpretation is needed by the listener. IMO this song stops short of that by leaving no blanks to fill in; just a drop off.

This is Exactly 1 of the reasons that I came to love this song. I usually love the lyrics so so much but I think this is the first song of Stevie's that I love for what she DOESN'T say because that seems to be exactly the point of the song."even if......" we could go all the way down to that line but we should notcross it and we both know that. So we should just stop having this conversation, abruptly. Now. Before things go any further and does cross that line. In the recent interview I like where stevie said when you have that experience something will click and you will know exactly what I was talking about. I have had that experience. Twice and yes stevie I get it.. j.stew it sounds like you have also.

It looks like I am not the only one who finds Moonlight quite boring. It is too mid tempo and plodding to be anything near a hit single in my opinion. The next single should be either WSS or You May Be the One in my opinion.
